Thanks for the how-to!

I have an old LJN Roadstars fire truck from the old show "Emergency!" and the rear axle has come loose inside the truck. I had no idea how to get the body open so I could repair it until I found your site.

Thanks!

I'm trying to customize a '52 Chevy pick up, the only ones I can find are all lowered. Which is something that I don't want. Could I replace the chassis with a different one so that it is not lowered?

Wow, just realized I did great and telling everyone how to get cars apart, but not back together! Thanks!

I usually use some JB Kwik to attach the body back to the chassis. The body post often lines up with the chassis hole after I'm don't painting or whatever, so I just dab some Kwik in the hole so it touches the metal post. Just make sure the chassis post is bare metal and not painted over.

I basically fill the hole in the chassis with the Kwik and let it harden. Once it has cured it's as hard as steel and your car should be good to go. To get you'll car apart again you'll have to redrill.

I'll take some pics and post up in an article. I think there are some pics on the Flickr page too.

What have you found to be the best replacement for the rivet once you start reassembling the car?
