Redline Derby is a blog about collecting, racing, and other projects that involve Hot Wheels and diecast cars. Diecast cars are a great toy that is one of the most universal toys in the world. You’d be hard pressed to find a person that didn’t play with toy cars when they were little. Some of us just haven’t grown up and that’s where Redline Derby fits in.As kids we play with cars by racing them on the kitchen floor or zooming them around the most ridiculous race tracks you’ve ever seen, with loops, jumps, hoops, and more. The next typical step is to simply collection Hot Wheels and other cars. Unfortunately, the typical type of collecting doesn’t include actually playing with the cars, they just sit on the shelf, often unopened, looking good.
Kids don’t have all the Fun

Out of the box!
I don’t believe that just because you’re over the age of 12 means you can’t have fun playing with your cars. It’s just a matter of finding a way, a project, that can incorporate our beloved toy cars. Derby racing and customization is a great way to have with with your cars and still retain some of your adulthood.
Through Redline Derby I’ll be sharing my own projects about Hot Wheels. Here you’ll find articles about building your own race track, customizing your cars with paint and beyond, and even how to turn your Hot Wheels into fun projects you can share with friends and family. I’ll also be sharing my observations on how cars behave when racing…as un-scientific as they may be.
Collecting to Play
Bottomline, Redline Derby is here for those that want to enjoy their Hot Wheels cars beyond the shelf. We take cars out of the box and even take cars apart. I’m less interested in toy cars as an investment and more interested in toy cars as entertainment. I collect Hot Wheels but I’m not a Hot Wheels collector.
If you’re wondering how to enjoy Hot Wheels as an adult without being like Comic Book Guy, Redline Derby is the place.
Sharing and Showing Off
While Redline Derby focuses on my own personal collection and projects, I want to show off the hard work and fun of everyone playing with cars. I’ll be reaching fans through the blog, community, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and more. Just use the icons at the top of any page to see more.
Check out The Daily Diecast where you’ll find a featured diecast photo each day – and one of the photos could be yours!
I’m always interested in meeting and chatting with other diecast enthusiasts. Just stop by the Redline Derby Community where you can share videos, photos, and message board. And don’t forget to join our Facebook group and we can talk shop about Hot Wheels and more.
