Eye for parts: Fast Fortress

After seeing this model being featured over at BattleGrip.com, I now have a new shopping target – the Fast Fortress. I haven’t found one on the pegs yet, but if I find it you better believe I’ll be grabbing one or two – for the wheels!

This big bad diecast sports three axles with 5-spoke design. The last dollar you spent only got you two axles, might as well spend the same and get one more! Six wheels for the price of four, a good deal no matter how you slice it. Not to mention the body looks pretty sharp too. With it’s bomber design I can see several possibilities for the cockpit and tail fin in custom creations. The engines on the side look pretty boss too and might be good for repositioning.

I have my doubts about Fast Fortress’ track performance. I don’t believe the extra set of wheels would be helpful, plus the molding looks heavy, which can be a burden when racing. Hopefully one will end up in the Redline Derby house collection and we’ll put it to the test, then we’ll see where it ends up in The Great Race.
