Week 1 Great Race update finds The Govn’r contending for the top spot at #2, beating the spread in week 1 voting. Votes showed people were firmly behind the Ferrari GTO and Firebird T/A.

The Ferrari GTO performed far worse than I had anticipated. It had a good balance and weight but couldn’t keep up with the Firebird, which surprised me. La Fasta seemed to come out of nowhere despite its name. Not surprisingly, however, the Chevy Nomad barely beat the Pontiac GTX to stay out of the bottom spot in the rankings.
Interesting to note about The Govn’r is that is is a plastic body with a metal chassis, unlike all other cars in this session of races. I typically don’t favor plastic bodies because they seem too light, but the diecast chassis was apparently enough to make up the difference. But that ‘66 Batmobile FTE is just too smooth to have anything touch it. If Batman got scared, I’d say he is now – but we all know Batman has no fear.
