After a little spring cleaning, the official Redline Derby Racing track has been setup and is ready for this season’s racing. Since the Fantasy League requires some consistency, I finally noted specs of the track so everyone knows what they’re up against.
Short and fast
The track was built using the same methods outlined in the official How-To, in case you want to make your own track for at-home racing. Here are the basics of my 2-lane race track:
- Total length: 18 feet of orange track (jointed)
- Height of drop: 3 3/4 feet
- Length of drop: 5 feet
- Angle of drop: 60 degrees
- Length of home stretch: 13 feet
- Starting gate: Mechanical, push lever
- Finish line: Mechanical, Hot Wheels brand playset flag finish
So there you go. Overall, a short track compared to some of the 25-50 footers I’ve seen in some clubs. The track lives in my patio room, so my space is limited…and this 18-feet is pretty much maxing out what I have.
