The graphic design of race cars

One of the reason I collect cars is that I like to look at them. I’m not a motorhead as much as I am a designhead. To me, cars are less about power and more about style…and this translates to the diecast scale as well. I love the colors, the designs, the decals, the chrome.

Get inspired

While browsing over at Jalopnik, I came across an article talking about a new book, Go Faster, that combines two of my favorites things: cars and graphic design. Specifically, the graphic design of race cars…and even more specifically, the race cars of the 70s era, which were ridiculously awesome.

Included with the article is a video interview with the author. It’s short and gives a great look at the book and the motivations behind it. This book is now on my Want List badly.

Since most of my diecast customizing is some what limited to paint work, this type of book is valuable inspiration. And frankly, it’s just great inspiration for any design-minded person, period.

Check out the article, with video, at Jalopnik, and then head over to Amazon and add it to your wish list.
