Following the first official race of the season, there are a few updates being made to the game. One update effects cars in your garage, and one adds deadlines that may effect car trade-in value.
One car per garage
Starting Monday, players are now limited to one car type per garage. For example, if you choose to have the 2010 Camaro in your All-Pro class, you cannot also have that car in your American class. However, other players can have the 2010 Camaro in their American class. So you’ll see multiplayers with the same car in their garage, but they will be in different classes.
This rule was added to limit players hoarding a specific car. Anyone that has the same car in their garage more than once currently will be grandfathered into this rule. They may keep their duplicate cars until the point at which they trade one in.
New race trade deadlines
The other major update adds trade deadlines for races. Before this update, the deadline for trading cars in and out of your garage was race day, however this didn’t allow any sort of preview to which cars would be racing. This update allows a separate deadline date from the actual race day.
For example, if the actual race is on a Sunday, the deadline may be the Thursday before. This means the race will be seeded on Thursday for Sunday’s race. The match-ups will be posted at that time and everyone will be able to see their opponents prior to Sunday…allowing for more trash talk in the forums!
This update really effects car trade-in value, however. Since players can now swap out cars after the race is seeded but before the actual race, cars will only earn trade-in value if the car remains in your garage until race day. So if you have the Camaro in your garage on the deadline day, it may get raced on Sunday. However, if you remove the Camaro before Sunday and then on Sunday it wins, you will not get any earned trade-in value since the car is no longer in your garage. You will still get win and bonus points, just not trade-in value.
This puts an interesting spin on how important you consider trade-in value to be. If you’re going after wins and bonus points, then trade-in value may not play into your strategy. Eitherway, this change is one to pay attention to.
And some minor leftovers
I also made some minor updates that fix some display issues on certain pages. I hope to turn on the club race submissions within the next couple weeks and then you can submit your local club races and track results.
Please post any questions or concerns over in the Forum.
