How to Play

What is fantasy diecast drag racing?

Similar to other fantasy leagues, in this league you earn points based on a real life performance. Only instead of football or baseball players, you pick Hot Wheels diecast cars. Every week the cars are really raced on a real 20-foot, 2-lane downhill race track. The tournament results are then posted and players are rewarded based on how well their chosen cars performed.

Frequently Asked Questions

For a list of FAQ and to submit your own questions about the Fantasy League, stop by the official thread in the forum.

The Racing Season

Each league racing season is 8 weeks long with 2 tournaments each week, plus one championship tournament. Each winning car is retired from play for the rest of the season. After the 16 regular season tournaments, all the retired winners are entered into a final championship tournament. The 16 finalists are also retired from future racing seasons.

The player with the most points after the championship tournament will be crowned the season champion. The champion will be awarded a special achievement trophy to denote their awesomeness (see Achievements).

How to Win

To win you must have the most points at the end of the season. There are a few things you can do to earn points:

The Tournaments

Each tournament is a 16-car, single elimination tournament. There is a total of 15 races each tournament to determine the winner. Tournaments will be restricted by class and rating. Every car will not be eligable for every tournament. Tournament slots are filled on a first come, first served basis. Once all 16 slots are filled they are filled. Tournaments are raced on the official 18-foot, 2-lane Redline Derby Racing track.

Each tournament has 3 stages:

  1. Car entry
  2. Submitting brackets
  3. Tournament racing

Any open slots that exist at the end of the Car Entry stage will be filled at random. Tournaments are then seeded and the Bracket Picking stage begins. Players then have a limited time to fill out the tournament bracket as they see fit, picking the winners for each round. On race day, points are awarded based on the number of correct bracket picks, if you had a car entered in the race, and if you earned any extra bonus points.

Your Dashboard is where you'll find all the links for car entries and bracket submissions. Always check your dashboard for your player stats and any special game announcements.

Entering a car

When a tournament is announced, players have a limited time to enter any eligible car into the tournament. A single car may only be entered once into a tournament. The same car may be entered into two different tournaments by two different players. Players do not "own" or have any exclusiveness to any single car.

If the car you entered happens to win the tournament, you will have bonus points added to you score. See Scoring

If you are too late and are unable to enter a car in a tournament, DO NOT WORRY, you can still earn points by submitting your bracket picks for each tournament.

Picking brackets

After the Car Entry deadline, players have a limited time to submit their bracket picks for the entire tournament. This is where most of your points will come from. You will earn points for each winner you pick correctly, points increasing per round (See Scoring). Any player can submit a bracket, even if they didn't enter a car into the race in the previous stage. And inversely, if you entered a car into the tournament you don't have to submit a bracket.

The Racing

All tournament cars are raced on the official Redline Derby Racing track. Each round is best two of three wins, alternating lanes between each heat. In the case where both cars have a win after two heats, the car with the highest pre-tournament rating will start in Lane 1 for the final heat. If there is a wreck or a car comes off the track, that heat is re-raced with the same lanes, no win is awarded.

Scoring

Points are always added to your score. You will never lose any points.
There are three ways to earn points in a tournament.

You must enter a winning car OR submit a bracket to earn points. Of course, it is encouraged that you try to do both as doing so will increase your chances of earning more points.

Point breakdown

Result Points
Your entered cars wins the tournament 50
Perfect bracket picked 250
Correct Round 1 bracket pick 10/pick, 80 possible points
Correct Round 2 bracket pick 15/pick, 60 possible points
Correct Round 3 bracket pick 30/pick, 60 possible points
Correct Round 4 bracket pick 50/pick, 50 possible points

Excluding achievement points, the most you can earn per tournament is 300 points, and that's only if you enter a car AND it wins AND you pick a perfect bracket. You may earn more points per tournament if you unlock achievements (see below).

Achievements

Achievements are goals outside of bracket picks and car entries by which you can earn additional points. Achievements may be simple and happen naturally the more you play, and some achievements may require you accomplish specific tasks within the game.

New achievements may be added throughout the seasons, so check out the complete list of achievements to see which ones will earn you the most points and be the most fun. Achievements can only be earned ONCE and are awarded automatically as the seson progresses.

Along with the bonus points, when you unlock each achievement you'll be rewarded with a special liscense plate trophy that is visible to anyone that checks out your player profile. Any achievements you earn will be retained from season to season - try to collect them all!
