Faster Than Ever cars aren’t always faster

An inside look at Target Race Aces

As I’m always looking for Hot Wheels that could be great racers, when I saw the Race Aces line at Target I couldn’t pass up the test. “Made for speed,” the blister package threatens. Complete with nickel-plated axles and a fancy chrome body it sure does look flashy, but does it perform?

A closer look at Fast Fortress

After seeing Fast Fortress in a review, it looked like a model that would be great parts even if it didn’t have the traits of a good racer. After finding this mainline and an inspection, it may still be good for parts but in an unexpected way.

After seeing this model being featured over at BattleGrip.com, I now have a new shopping target – the Fast Fortress. I haven’t found one on the pegs yet, but if I find it you better believe I’ll be grabbing one or two – for the wheels!

Fix your axles for better speed

One of the first things I do when modifying a car for speed is fix the axles. By “fix” I mean to make them so they don’t spin freely or move from side to side. Hot Wheels vary when it comes to how the axles behave.
