Hot Wheels relay track

Skuxmobile Saturday, 11/28/2015

I was inspired by Stroller's double back relay style track and figured it would be an interesting track for the next Hotwheels tournament I host in New Zealand. It is designed as a time attack style event, I imagine on the day, we will all get a certain number of runs and top 10 fastest teams get points. Reliability is greatly hindered the faster the cars go, hence the shallow gradients and duplo blocks (they somehow stop cars from flipping during impact.) Longer races are also more accurate to time, and more exciting, but the ideal track would be two laned for one on one racing action. At least by having it single laned, there can be no favourable lane to stir controversy (we take our hotwheels racing very seriously :) The lever device is merely 2 pieces or wood with a nail pushed through ( I added slots so it fits onto the red framework (mcdonalds happy meals if you recognise them).

I think that is brilliant! So many different ways to pass the energy to the next car!

The switchback exchange is so simple, yet, the faster the second car is moving, dang near triples the launch of car three. ( sure that quick drop doesn't hurt it either)

The framework is cool! It's like a huge water park slide frame here in the states. ( which gives me an idea for a  corkscrew style track now)

I like the use of the Duplo Blox. They look like they also protect the cars from damage too.

So many good ideas!

GREAT VIDEO FOOTAGE! It clearly covers all the engineering and mechanics of the build.

The well thought out, skillfully done build!

Car builders can build their team to fit in certain race locations on the track as well.

Orrrrr... For stock racing to make it interesting....  Have them supply, a certain sealed 5 pack of their choosing, with designated track positions written in sharpie on the front of the pack.

Example :

Vintage red Ferrari 5 pack, the f40 would be placed in position 2 or 3, for the weight of it to either swing the arm faster, or to utilize the drop to a quicker speed for the last leg car.

Sooooo many good ideas Builder!

Just awesome stuff!!

THANKS!!

Clever! I like how the 2nd car pushes the 3rd one...the faster car #2 is going, the bigger the push car #3 will get!

Have fun withe the Hot Wheels! I know I do! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

It's nice to be an inspiration half a world away...

You could do the same or similar setup but with dual lanes....for head to head races.....as well.

Good on you mate !  ..........Stroller

I've made a second version of the relay track. I have to agree with Stroller, a dual lane setup makes for fantastic racing with many come from behind victories.
