- The best way to post a pic is Photobucket...'share' you pic, select Copy link and then use the Direct link...copy that into the thread — 72_Chevy_C10
Welcome aboard RLD. I'm a new member as well .....these good Ole boys been letting me hang around for 6 months now. You've found a great group here. Everyone has been very helpful in all areas. Enjoy!
welcome c9... can't wait to see those cars from north of the border...
Welcome Andrew, you are going to have a lot of fun racing here. Great group of folks here, having a blast with these little cars. Look forward to seeing you on the track.
Welcome.
Hi, my name is Ed, 37, from Vancouver, Canada. "The Canadians are invading", LOL.
I recently bought a wheel Jig (just waiting for it to arrive), and I am eager to start trying some Mods. Thanks to these forums doing Mods should be a lot easier.
Was a user guide ever created for the Jig? I have sort of figured it out from old posts, but nothing concrete. Thanks
Hi Ed,
I've never really put together a 'user's manual' for the jig...they are really pretty straightforward.
What the jig does is keep the axles parellel while the JB Quick Weld sets up. I put the JB Weld on the centers of the axles and let it sit for about a minute. Then, I flip the car over and place it on the jig with a little weight on it...maybe 15-20 grams.
I put the JB Weld on with a toothpick and I let the toothpick sit in the leftover JB weld, so I can see when it has cured (takes maybe 5 minutes). But, before it is completely cured, I like to take the car off the jig and roll it on a flat surface to make sure it rolls straight...it should. After that, I 'll put the car back on the jig to let it set up.
One other tip, Smitty (Fordman) likes to drill small holes under the axle for the JB Weld to seep into and form a lock, to keep the JB Weld from coming loose.
I hope that helps!
Chris
I'll look up a build and put the link in here
thanks Chris, yes that helps.
Hey guys
I am new as well originally from Puerto Rico and enjoying what I have read so far. Really like all the support I have seen so far. In the next couple of months I am building my own track out of aluminum because that is what I am custom to racing on. Thanks ahead of time
Welcome to Redline Derby, glad you found us. There's no shortage of nuts here either ;P
You might be our first Canadian too...we're going global!
