Polishing bare metal

I found this old thread from Jobe where polished up the bare metal castings but from what I can tell he just took the metal to a buffer.

Anyone got tips for making the bare metal shine?

Worth using a compound, or is a good buff just as easy?

I used a product I found at a Blue Beacon truck wash  called "AlumAlive" high-tech Aluminum Polish.

YOU MUST WEAR EYE PROTECTION!!

It is milky white, spreads like water. No real buffing by hand was used. Dabbed it on with a paper towel, (because I just did not think of a q-tip at that moment)

Let it sit for a few minutes (until I just couldn't be patient any longer... Basically, and paid the price too!!  By having my dremel fling a 360* ring of white liquid across my truck from drivers window, dash, steering wheel, passengers window...you name it...I'll be finding this stuff spotted everywhere for MONTHS!!)

MAKE SURE YOU WAIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES TO LET IT DRY!!!

Then, CLOSE YOUR MOUTH( most important!!), put  a buffing disc on your dremel, and watch the majic!!

I think it did very well, but I am sure just about any aluminum polish might do the same thing...

It is pretty expensive, at $12 plus tax for 16 ounces and sold exclusively at only a handful of Blue Beacon truck wash locations.( not all have it)

I cannot imagine what shipping would be. Pretty high I think.

This is where it can be found.

I just discovered ... Don't use old aluminum polish. ( at least not old  dried up paste" Mothers alum and mag wheel polish")

It had little effect.

Not even worth posting a photo.

Most later Classics that look like spectra-fame paint are chromed under the paint... The ultimate in  bare metal !
