Removing axles from metal chassis.

Stroller Wednesday, 9/17/2014

I wanted to remove some axles from a metal chassis without damaging the axles so I ground down the metal tabs with a Dremel. Then I tried bending back the tabs with a small screwdriver.  Now it looked like the axles were loose but they weren't.  I thought about for a while then took the chassis into the bathroom and held it under scalding hot water in the sink.  After a few seconds the axles came loose.  I don't know if it was because the metal chassis expanded under the heat or the axles just got slippery anyway that's the way weird things happen here at the Stroller Garage....lol

I have good results using really pointy heavy duty side cutters. I guess the hobby railroad guys use em to cut track. They hold an edge and get right in close to cut the tabs.
