Some future race ideas....

72_Chevy_C10 Saturday, 7/19/2014

Hi Guys,

As I've mentioned in other threads, I will be hosting a 'City' series mail-in race this Fall (I'll keep you posted on the date). But, I've had some ideas about some future races, and I'd love some input :)

One idea, to expand on the idea of a stocker race, is to have a '5-pack' race. Just cars, no construction vehicles or emergency vehicles, etc. You send in a 5-pack, un-opened, and the fastest 4 of the 5 will make up your team.

Also, I've been thinking of doing a hot rod/ gasser/muscle car race...for the customizes to strut their stuff! The teams would consist of one hot rod/gasser style car and one muscle car...fte wheels allowed...let's say 45 grams for the hot rod and 55 grams for the muscle car.

Sound good? Please discuss...these events won't be happening until late Fall. Lots of time to work up these events to something cool!

And, as a side note, has there ever been a East Coast vs West Coast duel meet?

Again....discuss!

Thanks guys!

Chris

As a new guy to HW racing, I like the idea of the stocker racing. I'm learning about some of the mods done to "real racers" but I need a starting point. I'll enter the HWcity race and I'd be willing to do the 5 pack race. Thanks

Welcome to the club, FatMike, glad you found us. :)

Eventually the Fantasy League game here will come back and that's all based on stock cars racing each other. While the game is fun in itself, it was also a great research tool for when you get to modding because you then have a good idea of what car to use as your base, etc.

Thanks, Glad to be here. I did look thru the Fantasy League cars and there rankings to help me pick the car for the HW race my Cubscout pack was having. No I'm not a cubscout, I'm the cubmaster. When I finish building my track I'll have a 4 lane 100' track. My church races on the 1st Saturday every month. I look foward to hanging out with y'all.

Great to hear you're racing in your community. We'd love to see photos of your track and racing action...feel free to start a new topic to share them all and discuss.

And you can post a topic for your club's events too, if you want, and they'll show up on the diecast racing calendar so others can see and participate.

I think a "world cup" of sorts would be nice. Have a qualifier for each country then have the winners "represent" their country.

  • We could do an East-Coast vs West-Coast easily enough! Are you not in the US, morrismini? — 72_Chevy_C10

I've often thought of a state-vs-state tournament...points are then average between the number of entries per state to make it a little more fair. Although even then, Texas seems to have a big advantage ;)

This is actually something I'll be baking into the Fantasy League once I get to rebuilding it...but no need to wait til then!

I like the state v state idea, maybe you could have limits based on how many members are in a state.

72_chevy_c10, I am in the u.s. but what I meant was country of manufacture of the real car that the 1:62 is based on.
