Tag Team Racing

Stroller Wednesday, 11/26/2014

Another wonderful tournament idea from the weird mind of Stroller.

This tournament starts with qualifying, be it timed or speed trap.

Then teams are made up of two teams.  The fastest with the slowest,  second fastest with the second slowest and so on.

The race it self is a bit different.  One of the cars "teams choose which car goes first", races down the track and trips a lever that releases the teams other car to race back the other way to the finish line.

I have an idea how the lever should work but I am not home yet where I can work on something.

If any of you have an idea on   how to make a simple resettable device it would be helpful.  Hey Smitty I know that your Edison mind probably has this figured out already

And Happy Big Bird Day....

I just bagged the bird, set the oven at 325*, 12 minutes a pound, basted with... "dr. pepper"... when the pin pops up drop the temp to 220* for another hour...if you get a can of cheapo DR. THUNDER at wallies you can call your fowl "DR. THUNDERBIRD"...

 Is this a timed event ? as making equal lanes would be a bear...

As for the device, I figure if you have the lane 1 begin to go uphill near the finish, it will give lane 2 a downward tilt to launch it's car... the up hill finish will slow the cars, the first car's base holds the pin down, the foam slowing / stopping the lane 1 car long enough to let the lane #2 take off ...

My thought is a "steep" lane 1 track [hare] .......... and a "shallow" lane 2 track [tortoise]...

The combo rewarding both fast cars #1 and good rolling cars #2...

Also this would not require a split level foundation ;

The transition unit...

Made in the USA  with steel scraps...

  • if plausible, we could mail the unit with the cars to timed tracks... — model40fan

Just finished welding the base, sliding stop box retainer, stop lane track connectors, slot for the trigger, start lane ramp track connector...

HW tracks slid onto the conns. ... Blue plastic electrical box filled with foam will slide back n' forth in the metal box, note the elastics...The starter lane has been arched to provide a little extra pop for the starter car to clear the peg before the finisher car moves off the trigger and the peg raises again, a pair of 1" front "legs" on the front corners and a centered 2" rear ;

A little reverse slope at the finish will slow the finish car and help the launch of the starter car...

Works fine, tried 10 passes, 10 launches... don't know about higher speeds...

the guts, note the ballast needed to pull the longer pins back ;
