Is anyone familiar with the Team Hot Wheels 'High Speed Wheels' cars? I purchased this at a local thrift store for 99 cents after reading the back. These cars claim to have nickel-plated axel, all-acetal wheels for high speed performance.

Has anyone tried these down the tracks? I don't have many cars to test this with, nor do I have a track so I'm keeping this one in the package for now.

I recall that many racers here were testing out the "HSW" cars when they came out a few years back. IIRC, many of the cars were a bit disappointing right out of the package. Acetal plastic is essentially Delrin...a hard, dense plastic with self-lubricating properties. The wheels were also apparently designed with a tighter tolerance on the axle. These characteristics meant that the cars often required an extensive break-in period before they would really begin to perform well. I've tested most of them. Considering that all of the available castings are fairly lightweight, many of them do seem to roll very well(after the afore mentioned break-in). The fastest one that I've found is the Ferrari 458 Italia(which was only found in a Target exclusive multipack). It easily rivals the FTE versions of the same casting, which certainly aren't slouches among FTEs.
