Why are 50th Annv Race team castings so popular?

The 50th Anniversary race team castings are super popular for racing and the wheels for swaps.  Why?  

I get the castings are good looking, but they have been released in other sets.

It's the wheels...there one of the better production wheels produced by Hot Wheels in awhile...the better the wheels...the faster the car...the wheels themselves are very similar to my favorite Mainline wheel...the 5DOT
