Billboard for track dioramas

Stoopid_Fish_Racing Sunday, 10/6/2024

I found this really nice 3d print billboard file. It comes with several sizes of base and a cutout pattern for the billboard. It is sized for ~3" horizontal stickers. I think I will print a bunch and send one along with my entry for a few contests. The yellow one was my first print. This red print, containing two boards and 3 bases took 15 hours to print... gonna have to see if I can speed that up a bit! lol

There are several other billboard styles I will try as well...

The old school lights along the top are a SWEET detail! 15 hours for the print, how was the resolution? You can have it fast or detailed but likely not both, just guessing here

  • yeah... I really liked the design! That old bed slinger is doing everything it can speed wise. Otherwise the print is horrible. I will print them one at a time with the next few... it is still slow but the template is needed it I send them off. — Stoopid_Fish_Racing

Nice!

  • Thanks Mate! Want one? — Stoopid_Fish_Racing
  • Of course! Need to look at track and see if I have a spot for it though. My track hanging on the wall leaves not much room for extras. — Dutch_Clutch_Racing

You guys and your 3D printers, I’m impressed.

  • Not my design... but thanks... — Stoopid_Fish_Racing
  • I saw a custom Bone Shaker on Reddit made to look like Bulbasaur. The face in front, replacing the iconic skull, definitely had the striations alluding to it being a 3D print, so amazing — Chris_Hood
  • Billys_Midway_Racing did his Boneshakers to have his dog Brownie's head/face in place of the skull on front. — Dutch_Clutch_Racing

Very nice and useful design. The high school I worked at supporting technology had around 30 3D printers (most were in the Tech / Engineering classes) that were always in service. I helped get them running and keep them running with software and driver installs. I have never actually used one.

  • you missed out! Pretty handy in the hobby world! — Stoopid_Fish_Racing
  • I’m at the point of just paying to have things printed out. — AbbyNormal
  • I just make things old school — dr_dodge

They look pretty good. I have a printer as well, did you find them on Thingiverse? I like the idea so wouldn't mind putting some around the track.

That is very cool, I need a 3D printer!!

Dope! *goes to talk to the wife about christmas* hahahahahaha

Excellant job Fred brah. I've been wanting a 3d printer it would be so handy, but not in my budget at the moment. Have to trade my gf. LOL!

  • Heh heh… sometimes you can find them used… lots of folks try it and then decide it isn’t for them… keep an eye out in the local swap sheets or Facebook marketplace — Stoopid_Fish_Racing
  • Reminds of the Queen song, “I’m in love with my car”… “…told my girl I have to forget her, gotta buy a new carburetor…” lol — G_ForceRacing
  • True enough Fred. Mahalo brah. — GryphonSoul

I like them, but they are so fiddly!

  • Indeed… if you are not a tinkerer, probably not for you… but once you get it dialed in, just routine maintenance or upgrades is all it takes! — Stoopid_Fish_Racing
  • Ha Stoopid, I will have to make time and get dialled in sometime! Cheers — CutRock_R_Marc_D
