All good points and something I did consider when I set that up. I guess I never figured there would be any abuse just to get an extra 10 points, but when it comes down to it, you're right.

So maybe I'll tie the reward itself to when the invitee submits their first bracket. That way players can't just ask people to signup, they do, and then not play. That will help possible abuse and also help me keep the player roster free of deadbeats. The friend invite was entirely designed to get more new players but I actually want real players, not one-timers.

However, you're still correct in that someone could do an invite at the end of the season and get extra points. That's still possible but I think that's okay. It doesn't really matter when a friend joins because points are points. If someone is going to use some psychology and wait until the end of the season to get a bunch of sudden points, I think that's part of the game then.

And fact of the matter is, everyone has the same advantage. It's not like some people can invite friends and others can't.

Good input though...I'll see what it would take to reward points only after the noob submits their first bracket.

What's the difference in people getting an advantage
with referrals compared to people who have an
advantage to pick their racers to get bonus points?

Those people who get to the pick racers for bonus points
early in the week have an advantage over those who
don't have time schedules that permit them to benefit
from these points.

Also, those people who have internet access when these
special 1-time codes are released also have an advantage
over those who don't.

You're absolutely right, Mark, there are lots of ways to get ahead in the game that exist outside of the racing. From early entry to Twitter to Facebook and wherever else, the whole game was designed to be an online experience that rewards those who dedicate more effort into the game. In the end, every one has the same opportunities.

But also in the end, it's just a game.

Regardless how many extras there are, the meat of the points will still come from your bracket picking. Even if you don't collect every promo code or invite 10 friends to play, the odds are in your favor if you just consistently make your picks each week.

And to the players that have been playing for a few seasons now, just be aware that new players will always have an advantage because there are more achievement unlocks for the them to get. The veterans have probably unlocked most of the trophies by now so there's less bonus for them anyway, but obviously the thought is their experience is their advantage and they'll out pick new players anyway.

I don't want to drag this down into some debate where I have to defend how the game is built or played. It's just a game that's supposed to be fun looking at cars, guessing which ones will be faster and then talking about it.

I didn't poke around to get clarification on my own
so if you don't mind the question...

The license plates, are each of them going to be able
to be achieved by everybody or are there some that
will only be available to one person?

I'm just curious from a game perspective because
I don't think that you want something that nobody
could achieve (all of the awards).

I think my question got lost in the discussion but apparently, I may
have got my own answer. I can't believe that I was actually able
to use a Tweeted code get an unlock!

So, it I used the code and it told me:

"Your code unlocked the Loyal Follower achievement!"
And I checked my Achievements and I have a new
'TWEET' plate. So if I understand this correctly,
everybody will be able to get this achievement.

Is this achievement limited as to how many times
somebody can redeem it? I know they are 1-time
codes but I mean, if you already have the
Achievement, can you still rack up points with
subsequent Tweet codes?

Oh yeah, about Achievements that give you 25 points
the first time and then 10 points on future awards,
Which non-racing achievements does this apply to?

The codes that unlock achievements are one-time only for everyone. You can't unlock an achievement more than once. So if you got the TWEET plate and points, you can't get it anymore - no trophy, no points. So if you redeem another code and it was also for the TWEET unlock you won't get anything. The important thing there is that the code is still "alive" if someone tries to use it and can't make good on it.

The only achievement that gets players reoccurring points is by inviting a friend. The first friend that signs up gets you 25 points, everyone friend that signs up after that first one gets you 10 points...and this is pretty much unlimited. I have yet to change it so that the invitee has to submit a bracket before points are rewarded, but that will be happening soon (to try and thwart deadbeats).

Hope that answers you questions...let me know if there is any more confusion.

And I just made that change to the "Invite a Friend" code.

If you invite a friend to join and they sign-up using your friend code, they will get 50 points instantly. But you will not get the 25 points and unlock until they submit their first bracket. Same thing goes for every person you get to join after the first one, except you'll get 10 points for them instead of 25.

Hopefully this will keep anyone from having friends blindly sign-up to get points. I'm not sure it was happening anyway, but I like this type of rule better. So there you go.
