End of Season 5
The last two tournaments are in the books and the championship is next! These last two tourneys were brutal, if you ask me. I topped out at 50 points for each bracket...50! WTF is that? I had no picks beyond the first round. Ugh.
I totally underestimated every car apparently. Woof. Lots of close races in both cases and the last round of the Dog Days tournament with the GTO vs Delorean there was a honest to god tie. The third race had the finish line with both flags up equally, there was not definitive winner so there was a fourth heat that had the GTO eek out a win.
The Dieselboy and F150 race was a close one as well, the truck only winning by a bumper in each heat. The Seared Tuner was the only unraced car in the brackets and well, it didn't do so well. Of course, that Wildcat car is quite speedy so it was an underdog to begin with.
And yet somehow with incredibly low pulls this time around, I'm still at the top of the leader board. I got some feedback from a few of you and changed my mind about the trophy. If I end up winning the trophy JDC is making will be carried over to next season. Nobody wants to get a trophy for a second place finish, I wouldn't either so that seems fair enough. It happens...that's racing.
We now have the 16 championship cars decided and that race will get seeded at some point today and picks will be open all week. Results will get posted next Sunday and we'll crown a season champ that is hopefully not me.

So, if you read the other thread, you know that I didn't get picks in the final two tournaments before the championship race. It might have been a Firefox issue, it might have been the wonky internet at the hotel where I was vacationing with my family...but I can't rule out that I somehow made a mistake that lead to my bracket picks not being confirmed.
Just for my own curiosity's sake, I went through the results and tried to recreate my picks and what would have been the scores had my picks been registered...and I'd have had just as rough of a week as any...scoring only 75 points in each Dog Days and Checkered Flag. (Some cars I had no faith in did remarkably well, while other cars that I have an unreasonable appreciation for didn't quite do as well as I'd imagined...but ain't that always the way?)
That invisible 150 points would have kept me in second...so, a bit of a bummer for me...but no matter, I'll just have to have an amazing Championship picks to pull me back up.
(Since my family had an excellent time on vacation in Wisconsin--despite the heat and humidity being more than our Seattle-trained systems could handle--I'm not too worked up over a couple of weak brackets going missing--especially when I can't totally rule out that I wasn't the cause of them going missing. Had my picks WON a race or scored me in the 200's...well, hopefully I'd still be thinking "it's just a game" right now. )
Just joined and I had a lot of fun making my picks. 105 points in each bracket this weekend... I was more than happy!

I had a good week. I seem to be starting a tradition of doing good in one race and horrible in the other.... I'm good just as long as I don,t get beat by Jen, lol. I was definitely happy about the win! That's my one win per season.... so, quota met!
Being in the top 10 despite missing those two races is def cool with me. I just hope my picks for the next race work out. I noticed I was not with the majority on the favorite cars list.
Ah crap. You're right, Worpex. Talk about a miss click. It should be to the GTO. Dammit.
Well, at this point since people have already made picks, we're going to have to go with the Delorean. The GTO and Delorean were so close in their race that I feel it's a comparable car overall. I know it's not accurate to the tournament but I'd rather not dig through the database and delete records and then ask everyone to redo their picks.
Sorry...for the confusion and thanks to Worpex for catching it. Stuff has been crazy here lately so my head isn't always screwed on tight. My apologies...but it's all racing in the end
wow...I think those were my worst pics ever! 40 and 75 and yet I'm in 2nd place. crazy.
This will probably be my best finish yet, will be hard to move into 1st...but who knows!
