I'm a little later on this than I had hoped, but whatcha gonna do? Nonetheless, the beta of Fantasy League 2.0 is now open and I ask you all to please sign-up or login and give it a test drive.

Redline Derby Racing Fantasy League 2.0 beta

If you played in the Fantasy League last season, your same login and password will work, you don't have to sign-up again. If you're new, please register for a new account.

~~~
Please read through the How to Play page to get the basics on how the game works and plays. I will be expanding the rules and FAQ as the beta progresses and new season starts. At this point I'm still not sure what needs to be outlined and what doesn't, so right now it's the essentials.
I have scheduled the first FAKE beta tournament for next Wednesday. Again, it's fake - I will not be racing any real cars. All results will be random and points earned during the beta will NOT be carried into the season.
The tournament is scheduled for Wednesday because each tournament has THREE PARTS or stages and the tournament opens on this Friday (7/9).
1. Car entry - This is the period when players can enter a car into the tournament. First 16 cars only.
2. Bracket picking - At this point car entry is closed and the tournament is seeded. Players can then submit their brackets for tournament winners. You earn points for each pick you have correct.
3. The race - The last stage is the race itself. Results will be submitted and points rewarded.
There are also achievements as previously mentioned. Right now there is only one achievement, that being to submit a bracket. When you do so, you should get the trophy and extra points added to your score.
I've done a lot of testing myself for this game, but obviously THERE WILL BE BUGS and other problems I didn't find or experience. I ask you to PLEASE REPORT ANY PROBLEMS here in the forum on this thread. Anything that you find as not working, working weird, or just any major confusion, please report.
I'm hoping this beta period can be short, hopefully through next week and that's it. I'm as anxious to get racing as you are.
Thanks for all the support for this and for all the suggestions while I was building v2.0 - I think you'll find a lot of fun things in this version, and it should be open to a lot more people so the competition could be fierce.
What else you can do...
You can add cars to your garage. Just head over to The Lot and click the little heart icon to take cars in and our of your garage. This time around, your garage really only serves as a shortcut list for cars.
Your garage is unlimited and anyone can put any car in their garage. There isn't any "ownership" of cars like there was before. Cars that are in your garage appear on the first screen during the car entry stage of tournaments...it saves you the trouble of searching through the entire collection at tournament time.
Brian, how will you announce when new cars are added to the lot? I know you have a lot more cars available now
Cars will continue to be announced here in the forum and on Twitter. But The Lot now shows you the latest additions on the main page. Since car ownership is not part of the game this time, there isn't the need to jump on a car the second it is announced.
And in regards to the track for this season, it will be the same as last season. Eighteen feet long, two-lane, playset finish line. That's all the room I can create at my house reliably and have somewhat of weather control. If there's a chance to move the track outside like I did for last season's last race, I'll try to do so.
I'll re-post official track details before this season starts. While the length won't be changing, I'm going to evaluate the drop angle, I think it might be too steep.
Found a fixed a bug that allowed you to enter a car without being logged in. If you got through and entered a car when you were not logged in, please enter a new car.
I dropped my start height quite a bit from the original four feet. I think you'll like the result if you try this Brian
I seeded the first mock tournament Sunday afternoon and it's now ready for your bracket submissions. Just head to your dashboard and click to submit a bracket. Then just click on the cars you think will win in each match-up and submit it. Then you wait until race and find out how you did.
You can change your picks after you submit. So if you wake-up at 2am in a sweat because you know in your gut you made a bad pick, you have until race day to make changes.
I might also mention that a list of the favorite picks is in the sidebar on the bracket submission page. You won't see what picks other players made, but you'll see which cars have been picked the most across all players.
And if this thing works like I hope, you should unlock the first achievement and get 25 points for your trouble.
So you'll have until Wednesday to submit your picks, then I'll submit final results and you'll start seeing more points.
Should note YOU CAN SUBMIT A BRACKET EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T ENTER A CAR. Bracket submission is for EVERYONE, not just those that entered cars. In the grand scheme of things, entering a car really doesn't get you much shy of a few extra bonus points. You'll get the bulk of your points from making correct bracket picks.
If anyone went to the beta today (Monday) before Noon and got an error, please try again. I fixed the problem. Sorry for the trouble.
Thanks for the feedback The look of the league will match the yet-to-be-redone look of the blog. I really need to get off my ass and post something interesting at the blog. Between the league redo and other hobby projects, I haven't been messin' with the Hot Wheels like I did last year.
Another beta tournament has been scheduled and will open for entries tomorrow (7/14). Tomorrow night I will also submit mock results for the first tournament and we'll see how that goes. Looks like several of you submitted brackets and got your bonus points, so that's good...I always like it when shit works.
Results were just posted for the first mock tournament and two things should happen. One, you should get some points (assuming you made ANY correct pick). Two, you should get an e-mail giving you a tournament summary...that is unless you happened to uncheck your subscription option in your profile.
All in all, I didn't notice any outstanding issues with the points or results. Please let me know if you notice anything weird or if the points seems wrong in anyway.
One cool thing you should all check out is the bracket results when you're logged in. From your dashboard, click the View Results link for the tournament. Then click the "Show my picks" button at the top of the page and the bracket should highlight green and red with your correct and incorrect picks.
It won't show YOUR bracket, it will only show the actual bracket results, but anything red is where you missed the pick.
Let me know what you think...next mock tournament also opened today, so you can enter another car. This tournament has a class restriction.
The "Show my Picks" feature is great! I can see where my points came from and which picks I missed! Awesome!
