Darn! I forgot about the Corvette ZR1 FTE being un-retired! I thought I had this tourney hands down entering the Stockar FTE. Could the Stockar somehow beat the Vette? Probably not

argh! Forgot the entry...i was out of town anyway...durn.

LOL, I got my time zone calculations wrong and was 2 hours late. I did know the vette was in there though.

Sounds like we have the same final match up and winner picked.

---why I just might pick the Stockar to upset the Corvette.

You know how when you sometimes enter a car (not your first pick cause that ones already taken), and even though you pretty much know it's not the fastest entry, you pick it to win the whole thing anyway....just in case?

It's easy to get sucked into the "I want my car to win" idea but I always come to my senses and pick the cars I think will win. Often I will enter a car just to see it race because I want to see how it does, not because I think it can win. Bottomline, you get more points by picking good brackets than you do entering cars and winning with them.

Corvette wins hands down.

Wow, the Corvette did win, but it was a "D" 2-1 photo finish. I had no idea the Phastasm FTE was that fast. I know what car I'm picking next time

This is the first race where I found the grades can really make a difference. The Land Rover especially has always been a "good" car that has won a lot, at this point it's almost legendary around here, but seeing it race and putting in some C and D wins really told me it's maybe not as fast as its reputation suggests. Yes, it wins and that's all that matters, but they weren't complete blow outs which tells me it can be beat (by something other than the V16)

That Phantasm came out of no where. After it raced I looked and it had only been raced once before and lost to Rescue Ranger. Again, another car just sitting there with a lot of speed but we all negate because it lost one race to a really good car.

Well, as the person who chose Phantasm...I'd LOVE to say that I KNEW it would do as well as it did.

I can say that finding a decently balanced and weighted FTE car that had only raced once was part of my thought process...and I thought that it would do well, depending on who it drew in the match-ups.

...but I can't say that I knew it would do as well as it did, because I picked Stockar to beat it and make the finals. Had I simply picked my own chosen car one more round, I'd have beat newman39 for the tournament win.

(Still, it was a good tournament for me...and helped my confidence a bit. I'd begun to think that my opening tournament 250 was a massive fluke...which, it probably was, but I don't like to think that way when I'm picking cars for the latest tournament.)
