For what it's worth, I wrote my college seior thesis on post apocalyptic cinema. Half the paper was on the trilogy which were the most well developed elaborations of themes common to most in the genre. Beyond Thundredome was by far the most thematically complex and interesting, and I guess my favorite though TRW is probably the best "movie".
