May I ask a practical question about RTL Season 7?

1) Does it make sense to do another season of the when last year there were only three teams with active captains? (Three teams had no captains, one team had a captain that never made a move to get rid of a team member who didn't play all year...and one team ended up with me as a captain, which I'm not terribly comfortable with...)

2) Does WorpeX's point ("the regular season doesn't matter") need to be addressed in the rules to increase interest in the ? (I'll be honest--that comment was part of the reason that stats for the season didn't get posted until after my November real life commitments...if it didn't matter and nobody cared, I didn't feel like spending my precious free time doing math and putting up results--it just all seemed too masturbatory.)

I'm fine continuing to run the if there are people interested in it...but I'm not getting the sense that people are... I think, at minimum, we need at least eight people who are willing to care enough to do just a smidge more work than they already do to pick brackets in the Fantasy League...and we don't have that right now.

I'm also fine just stopping. It was an interesting six season experiment, generated a lot of crunchy numbers...but perhaps, to borrow a line from Ghostbusters 2, "the joyfulness is over".

What do you think, sirs?

I know I love it! I wish I could put a consistent team together, it seems like I sign someone thats been active recently, then the moment I sign them, they vanish....

Sorry, I didn't mean to be a buzz kill. But to put it another way, the regular season is like the pre-season in football. It's all well and good, but everyone is going to get into the next round anyway. I think the play-offs could be done a bit differently to make things a little bit more interesting. Perhaps last place in both divisions is out. 2nd/3rd play each other and 1st gets a bye. Then faces the winner of the first playoff match - then the winner of the other division. Would take an extra round, but im ok with that!

Perhaps we should consider reducing the amount of teams in RTL also. We have a lot of active teams, but some people just aren't willing to be a captains and I think by now its obvious that we wont have a captain for every team.

I really enjoy RTL and would love for it to keep happening! I have a pretty solid team now although it took a few seasons to finally get the perfect roster.

In regards to the RTL for next season (2013), I am planning on integrating teams into the game properly, so it's not run or tracked here in the forums. I think putting the stats, scores and names in front of everyone when they check the results will help build more interest quite a bit. Fact of the matter is there are a lot of people playing the game that aren't regular message board users (if at all, excluding lurkers), so they don't even know that a teams thing going on. It's somewhat back alley right now

So I would say that if the stars align and the teams make it into the game then the RTL should continue - I would see it almost as a reboot of the thing. There will be achievements, credits and other things added to make team members and captains more important.

If fortunes do not smile upon us and the teams don't get into the game by the Spring, I think the RTL should go on hiatus until they can be properly handled. I know Peter has done a lot of working building the RTL here in the forums and I hate to see that effort go more and more unseen by the majority of players.

When the teams get folded into the game, Peter will still be the commissioner and run things - only he'll be able to do so more efficiently and spend less time calculating scores and more time keeping people engaged and handling team actions like trading. My goal is to have this in there by Spring (Season 12) but we all know real life can get in the way so I can't make any promises at this point.

It would be nice for every Fantasy player involved to know they're actually contributing to a team. If Brian can work it into the Fantasy site, and team captains could communicate with "ALL" of their team members, then I think we'd really have something fantastic. I'd also really like to see seattlegreyy's fantastic work on commentary and stats brought to a wider audience.
