This is a season-long racing series with 12 events. The scoring is a season-long points battle. There will be qualifying sessions, short 20-car Second Chance races (2 laps per segment) at the end of the qualifying videos, and 42-car Cup Series races, 12 for stock builds and 12 for mods.

I'll likely film/release the modified series first, as that seems to have been drawing more interest as of late. The main Cup Series will run using a slightly modified version of the old Winston Cup points system, while the Second Chance series will count points down from 20 to 1. The inspiration for this comes from the sub4ra channel, which I binged during the pandemic and was my first introduction to Hot Wheels racing on Youtube. I'll have the cars roughly through the year of 2025.

The tracks I'll be using will feature a speed trap to capture qualifying speeds. Each race the track will vary slightly in design.

DISCLAIMER: YOUR CARS WILL BE RETURNED WITH PAINT CHIPS AND POSSIBLY WITH BENT AXLES. While some of sub4ra's videos have over 1 million views, it certainly isn't for everyone. The cars will make a lot of contact/flip over, especially if they're top heavy enough. This is a marathon, the cars'll be taking about 12x as much contact as they normally do. If they get damaged to where they can't roll down the track, they will be put on the "Injured Reserve" for the next 2 races as I find time to repair them.

Rules & restrictions

  • Stock and modified entries allowed
  • 99g maximum weight (for the modified castings)
  • 3 1/4 in x 1 1/4 in x 1 in.
  • Limit 4 stock and 4 modified entries per household.
  • Any wheels are allowed on the modified builds. Wheel swaps aren't allowed on stocks.
  • Dry lube only. Axle polish is allowed as long as it dries by the time the cars arrive.
  • Castings must be a vehicle used in the NASCAR Cup Series, Busch/XFINITY series from 1949-present. If you have any questions or any grey areas, just message me. I'll likely allow it unless it's something obviously never used in NASCAR.
  • Each vehicle must have a driver name. 4 drivers for stock and 4 for mod. If there are more than 75 in either series by the end of December, I'll be bringing the limit for anybody who hasn't registered yet back down to 2 cars per builder. Any cars without a driver name will get a NASCAR driver who drove that number or a randomly assigned stock character.
  • Numbers must be on at least 1 of the 3 following spaces: Hood, Roof, and Doors. Due to younger family members that watch these videos, the numbers 420 and 666 are off limits, as is 69 unless it is part of a stock paint scheme that was actually used in NASCAR. Your cars will still race but they'll just get stickers that can easily peel off, with other numbers over top of it.
  • Stocks can have wheels sanded/graphite and can be painted, but can not have the chassis drilled or have weights added or wheels swapped. Mods, well anything goes for the mods as long as it raced in NASCAR.
  • The fastest 38 cars each qualifying run automatically get into the big race. The podium of the Second Chance Series race gets spot #39-41 and the highest driver in Cup Series points that qualified for the Second Chance Race but didn't get a podium, gets spot 42.
  • In the season finale, any driver that's mathematically eligible for the championship is guaranteed in on points. No one else but the highest ranked Second Chance qualifier will be guaranteed in on points at any other time.

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Friday, 1/24/2025. Racing is scheduled for Friday, 1/31/2025. Results will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host.

How to enter

Send your entries to:
HSL Diecast Racing
PO Box 7
Wind Gap, PA 18091

Include at least $10.00 for return shipping if you want your entries back. Entries without return postage will be kept on display on a shelf. Filming begins February 1. You may still send extra cars afterwards, but they won't get to race in the season opener and possibly the race after that.

Include a Race Entry ID slip with your entry

Track

The track is a combination of split and fat track. The fat track will funnel into a speed trap at the end of the course during qualifying runs that will be replaced by more fat track for races. Each track will be 15-25 feet in length, possibly longer for the modified cars. Due to space constraints, there is no permanent track. The tracks are designed to be set up and taken down in a short period of time, to accomodate a 12-race season.

The following link is to my channel, and this is what a typical track would look like. I will be adding new track pieces and decorations as the season goes along.

Race format and scoring

The cars will be split into 7 segments of 6 cars* based on qualifying speeds. Each segment will have 4 laps, except the Daytona 500, Talladega 500, which each have 5, Coca Cola 600 which has 6 and the road course race which has 3. The Second Chance Series segments will all be 2 laps with 4 segments of 5 cars.

The winners of each segment will move onto the Main Event, and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place finishers will race against one another in 2-lap segments The winner of those moves on to the next race, as in the winner of the 6ths race will move to the 5ths, and so on. The Main Event is the same number of laps as the race's segments. The 2nd-6ths races of the Second Chance Qualifier Series are a single lap.

Penalties/DNF

Cars that are too wide for the split track or through the timer chute will be disqualified for the season.

Cars that arrive damaged will be minimally repaired before filming, and cars that are damaged during a race will be put on the "injured reserve" for ~2 races as I find time to repair them.

Prizes

Prizes for the champion and runner up of each series will contain treasure hunts, ZAMACs, VW Drag Buses, multipacks, and  M2 collectibles. The winner of each series gets to pick 8 products from the prize pool which is in the comment section. The runner ups each get to pick 4.

Everyone that enters with return postage gets at least 1 Hot Wheel with their cars and each Main Event winner will get extra cars for each Main Event one of their cars wins!

In please for two modified please!

#27 & 28

Will there be times during these races where all cars will be lubed with graphite? Twelve events will surely wear out the graphite during that season! Thanks!!

  • Sweet! — HSLmotorsports
  • As for the graphite question, I never thought of that. I’ll definitely do fresh graphite as part of repairs, maybe a refill at the halfway point too. Thanks for the suggestion! — HSLmotorsports
  • Excellent! Am already thinking of the cars I will send, thank you!! — G_ForceRacing

1 Modified and 1 Stock please.   Thanks!
