Quick Race and some topics on modding

BlueLineRacing Tuesday, 8/11/2020

A question for the experts out there. Anyone ever get a stock car that runs so clean and fast that they don't want to sand the wheels or polish the axels? I only ask because I have actually slowed some cars down in the past. Let me know and check out this race video if you have time. Thanks

All the time. Making modded cars that end up faster than stock is difficult and a rare thing (for me). Roll through the Cars archive and you'll find many a topic on slow mods and the challenges that come with it.

However, myself, I even tend to not polish or sand the wheels/axles even when I'm doing a wheel swap or something. Part of that is laziness, part of that is kind of accepting that my mods are always slower, and the other part is that I'm challenging myself to make a mod that is a contender without a lot of extra work (because I believe it's possible).

My approach would be to do as little as possible to your mod, test/time it, then try change one thing, repeat and so on. Instead of doing "all the mods" up front, do them gradually. Your car might only need sanded wheels and not polished axles...etc...

I've been "modding" cars for lmost 3 months now, and I finally made one faster. Using the guideline in an old RLD post, I found my fastest stock car, and use that as my mod "gatekeeper".

I've tried a bunch of different techniques, and I've spent as much as 5 days on a single car. My best results were achieved on a car I spent less then 3 hours on. In the end, it's a lot of trial and error. You have to find out what works for you and what doesn't. Just remember first and foremost, it's all about having fun.

  • Thanks, it’s fun when it’s fast. Good Luck to you and welcome to the hobby — BlueLineRacing

Ive kindof had a luck of the draw.. Sometimes faster  sometimes not.... but ussally just  fast but not much.... i have learned alot since march and am alot better builder then i was when i started... I have not ever poshed my axles... cause the lack of knowledge/and polish makes it hard to do so... but will be giving it a chance on the next few cars i do....
