Some 1970's Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars

Chaos_Canyon Sunday, 4/12/2020

Hey All,

As part of my new found enthusiasm for this awesome hobby, I dug out some of my oldest cars that I used to thrash as a youngster back in the 70's.

I put a very short video together of them that you can watch here.

Let me know what you think as to whether I should leave them as original or restore, mod or custom them?

Just subscribed, I'm super new to all this stuff, I found it randomly on YouTube and I'm finishing my second car in two days haha! I'm not sure how they'll do they haven't even been tested, I gotta build something haha!

  • Nice! It’s certainly addictive and thankfully one of the cheaper Motorsport options out there ???? — Chaos_Canyon

Im all for restoring and modding.  IF there is some value to it more than the value you would gain from working on it and then playing with it, then sell it and find others!  Thats the way I am.  There are a few cars from my childhood I wont mess with but other than that, I like tinkering and everything is liable to come across the work bench.

  • Yeah, a couple of them are definitely going to be modded but I’m thinking poison pinto and the van will stay as is, as they are in good nick considering their age and the fact they were played with so much when I was a kid — Chaos_Canyon

Poison Pinto is common, but it seems ok , lots of people do mod the Pinto.. I have a few of them.. I like them.. The van you have .. its black wall wheels  look tired, .Its a good heavy van.. I like the vans.. there are other similar non chrome versions you can get for a dollar and mod.. if you don't want to mess with it.. You could upgrade it a bit.. You could even put Repro redlines on it that come as a set with wheels and axles, or put some FTEs on it.. I also have a few of the chrome vans.. they are a favourite of mine...

The rest are definitely easy choices to mod..

I prefer stock, I prefer a fast stock car.. However.. once a car is toast, has no visual or rolling value.. well.. time to go to town ... Lots of cars out there to mod..

  • Yeah, I'll definitely be ripping into the others but the Pinto and the Van are both still quite fast on the track as they are and I kind of dig the nostalgia with them as they are — Chaos_Canyon
