I only changed the wheels on this one, but removed the tampos too.

I only changed the wheels on this one, but I also stuck six or seven nickels in there and stuffed it full of clay.

Love the 'patina'!

tasteliedirt, if your looking to find the old style FTE wheels for swapping, the Ferrari 458 Italia wheels fit most everything with the big-n-little setup. Others do too but IMO the Italias are the easiest to find (I stopped buying them after I realized I had 34 of them!).

"Love the 'patina'!"
I bought that van for my 2 year old daughter over a year ago. I recently came across it and the axles were all bent from being played with. A good candidate for a wheel swap. So we traded. I like the way it looks too!

" Italias are the easiest to find"
That's where I got the wheels for the Roadster above^. I had one Italia and that one seems pretty fast. So I didn't want to take it's wheels, so I bought another one. The new one is noticeably darker blue than the first. I raced them and the new one beats the first by at least a car length every time. So I pulled the wheels off the first one. The rear wheels were too big to fit on the van. I have silver one too so I used the front wheels off it. They are also really easy to get the wheels out of their plastic bases. On top of that I went to Big Lots yesterday and they must have at least 10 Italias in there, so I'll be picking some more of those up soon.

there seems to be at least two base widths, fat rear wheels get a narrow base... you may want to use like width axles and bases... too much side to side can't be any better on an axle than it is on the track...

Here's one I did a while back. This car had a narrower track or width like Smitty said.
I was able to use axles that wouldn't fit the others.
