Win to bring back retired cars

It's been asked a few times about bringing back retired cars to active racing. My first thought was to do this with promo codes but then I figured there is an easier and more fun way to do it - by winning tournaments!

We're half way through Season 4 already so starting with the tournament, the winner of each tournament will get to unlock and bring back a retired car from a prior season.

All retired cars from Seasons 2 and 3 are eligible except the two Ferrari Hall of Fame cars. Cars retired from the current season do not qualify. You can see the complete retiree list on the Rankings page:
http://www.redlinederby.com/fantasy/rankingscar.php

Once reinstated, the cars will be added back to the active racing collection and can be entered into tournaments like normal, following all usual tournaments rules and restrictions.

I'll update this post each week with winner info and you can just post your pick here as post. In the case that the tournament winner is not one of the more active players here on the boards, I'll mail them with details.

What car will you pick?
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

We'll try this for the rest of the season and see how it goes. If we have fun with it, I'll see how to better roll it into next season.

I think it'd be fun to have all of the retired cars in one race at the end of the season.

It's also good to see both cars in the hall of Fame are my donations, lol........ Yay me!

And the first winner is GrabberGT, congrats! So Grabber, you can pick any car to bring out of retirement. Post your pick or PM me and it'll be thrown back into The Lot for all to enjoy.

Next weekend will have both winners pick a car to unretire.

Alright... I know you guys have been anxiously awaiting my pick so without further ado I present.....

ZR-1

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

This is one car that has caused lots of confusion for me. When I first found this site, this car was the top rated car at that time.

I looked and looked for one. It was a must have to add to my racing cars. Finally found one, it was crap on the track. Found a green one--same FTE model. Same thing. I went with a third one-again the same thing.

About a month ago, I was able to get another one and the wheels were dragging on it--I hate that out of the box. I opened it up and there was plastic that was dragging on the axle. I shaved that off, stripped the paint to the metal and added some weight. Its the fastest of the group now, but still--I want the one from here in my collection!

This car was one of the main reasons I did so well in season 1. Yet I have mixed feelings about It 'cause it let me down in season 2 when it lost to the Cadillac V16 in round 2 of the finals.

Cadillac V16 takes down all, LOL, j/k. Actually, I sent in my Cadillac V16 to that spring mail-in tournament and it didn't do so hot. I'd like to see all the champs race at the end of the season too, but I would also like to see a Chrysler Hemi 300C (FTE) in that race. That's the car that won in the mail-in tournament. I'm pretty sure it would win, because it beat the Testarossa and that's pretty much been the fastest car in this group of cars. Although, I see the Testarossa was 15-1, what car did it lose to? I think it might have been a fluke to the Land Rover, but I'm not sure.

Just a follow-up that the Corvette FTE has been reintegrated to society and is now available for future races should it qualify. Good pick, Grabber. Should shake things up a bit.

...and the 300C FTE will be a star rookie next season, I'm sure.

Two more winners, two more cars can come back...congrats to McJiggles9, you can both select one car to bring back from retirement. Feel free to PM me or post your pick here. Which cars will join the Corvette?

One of my favorite racing cars, makes it return!

Dieselboy!!!

My about-to-be-nineteen-months-old son Simon seems mature enough not to put diecast cars in his mouth...so, I treated him to his first ever selection of cars...sixteen of them, all of them accidental duplicates to cars I own myself...plus a 30-car carrying case for them... He's already a big fan--especially when I bought and set up the Hot Wheels 4-Lane Raceway (short and rickety, but it 's perfectly fine for Simon) and spent the next few hours racing.

And the fastest car he owns is...DIESELBOY!!!

(He's a big fan of Dieselboy...but, if I'm honest, his absolute favorite of his first sixteen cars is a Lesney Edition Matchbox Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser... That's because it's got plastic dogs with their heads sticking out the back window. What can you do?--The kids not even two years old yet!)

Did you know? You can extend out that track by putting HW track onto the end of it? The connectors are already there. That is the track I use to race on at home with my boys -with at least 8 pieces of track to run flat on and it has carried over quite well to here and in my competitive racing league.
