About

This is a rebuild and expansion of Obsidian Mountain Raceway.

Shortly after recording the Inaugural race (The Aloha Invitational) the island experienced multiple quakes and the island had to be evacuated. Just a few days after the evacuation the volcano erupted blowing off the southern face of the mountain, sending debris miles into the air and covering the island in ash and debris.

A month passed before the survey teams could recon the island. Pretty much everything was destroyed, only a few towns and villages survived with little to no damage other then fallen ash. Rebuilding the civilian areas is already underway as is the construction of the new raceway. The lava flows have expanded the mountain side despite losing the southern face and collapsing the lava tubes that were raced thru.

The geologists and volcanist have reported that the eruption will be the last for this volcano, as it completely blew itself out. The tectonic plates that shifted, originally causing the 1st and ongoing eruptions that formed the island have long since moved and the magma pockets under the ocean floor are waiting for the next shift in the plates to escape and form the next island in some future generation.
