Hot Wheels drifting

I found this today in a thread on Hobby Talk, and thought I would share it here. It's absolutely amazing, the video should explain itself:

I think we just found our next competition...

  • It really reminds me of DCRL's Mountain Rally course, yet fancier. — KandORacing
  • It does give a whole new meaning to open road course — redlinederby

Wow! My imagination is running wild. Can anyone else imagine what you could with more space, a couple helpers, and a bunch of spare time?

  • I know I can imagine it..... but I don't have the space or budget :( — KandORacing

I just noticed that the person that made that video uploaded an update a few days ago:

Great stuff!! Kudos to those who put that together. It appears to be a low friction surface with some angled articulation. My only concern would be that only a limited number of cars would be able to adequately 'drift' on such a coarse. (Notice how only the Ken Block Fiesta is shown in the vids) I'm guessing that changes in the transition angles on the course could be made to accommodate different cars...finding that 'happy medium' would require much track tuning, indeed.

  • I'm sure it would, as DCRL told me it took awhile to get their courses figured out. — KandORacing

I got an interview with the guys that built the drift track, so look for that sometime next week.
