Pro Stock Challenge
I ran a Copo Camaro (with skinny fronts) down the track today...whoa, this is going to be a Challenge!
A '68 Camaro...and a new one (I'm not a fan of the new Camaro). Looks like a future Grumpy's Toy...and the 2014 has skinnies on the front!

- Looking good! Let me know when you get th he skinnies rollin' fast :) — 72_Chevy_C10
- So far so good, need to set the weight and test more — Traction-Event
- My concern is not getting enough weld in the tube to hold the axles.... — Traction-Event
- I haven't had any come lose yet...there really isn't any force pulling them out — 72_Chevy_C10
Sounds like fun. Is a Pro Stock and a Funny Car the same thing?
- Those are two different classes, I'll see if I can look up a good explanation. How's the eye? — Traction-Event
- pro-stocks have kinda appeared after my drag racing interest peaked 1953 to 1966.... — model40fan
- The eye is still waiting for the VA to rescedule my surgery, but for now it's bearable. — Stroller
- Pro Stocks are more of a "real car", being doorslammers rather than lift-up bodies like funny cars have — KandORacing
- Another bit of info: Old Pro Stocks used a real car body with parts added, modern ones are a different skewed version of it — KandORacing
So it begins...
One '68 Camaro Grumpy's Toy, coming right up
Not Pro Stock related, but this guy has some serious chops...
Figured Smitty would enjoy it! :)
I see things man... like the axle tubing being featured could make some very detailed fenderwell headers [gassers], being copper it bends easy, I would countersink the exposed end to enlarge the inside and reduce the wall of the tube.... next time I'm intown !
Here are my two candidates...a '68 Nova and a '68 Camaro...both glass beaded and ready for A LOT of testing (since I know there is a fast truck out there, waiting for them!)
And Smitty, I'm thinking about doing an engine that has interchangeable headers and intake...of course, it would be a Chevy though :)
I know I should be working on my Nascars...since that series is before this...this is not even scheduled yet...but whatever...these builds have my interest.
Car 2 in the shop...

- Traction Event. ..Pro Stock HQ — 72_Chevy_C10
- Hmmmm.... what's that gold trophy I see in the background? :) — KandORacing
Hmmm, I wonder what might be going on here...
This will, indeed, be a 'challenge' :)
- viagra vega ? — model40fan
- Yes! TE approves of this build. tubes? or no? — Traction-Event
- already milled for the tubes, TE...viagra vega...ha! It does great wheel stands for some reason! — 72_Chevy_C10
- LMAO Is that car old enough to need that? — KandORacing
The official series dates & rules will be posted up soon in a seperate thread, I've just been holding off for awhile due to the small number of racers expressing interest in the event idea.
I am building a scale-size trophy for the series winner, similar to the K&N Horsepower Challenge trophy (With a painted 1/64 pro stock hood scoop on it). If this series has enough entries, we could make it a yearly event. Maybe someone could sponsor it by having their username in the series name, and donate some 'performance parts' to be given to the winner (FTE axles, tube of graphite, spare engines, etc.)
Promising start...
