Race ideas for 2015
I had an idea that might be fun...a "Collector Cringe" race. Most of us have some tired Redlines laying around. Rather than just letting them sit around, why not have some fun and turn them into racers...and make the collectors cringe!
They don't have to be original Redlines (1968, 1969 cars), but how about cars from '70-'76. And, for fun, let's try to rescue some old cars and have fun with them...57 grams, any body type, any wheels
For the collector cringe we could also add in matchbox superfasts..
I agree with that! Some of the MBXs are cool (though I daresay the '66 Lesney Refuse Truck I dug up in my backyard the other day by means of a metal detector wouldn't compete that well...I haven't yet coaxed those wheels into spinning ONCE, ha-ha-ha).
Hey Guys,
How do you feel about Salt Flats racers...
I have a Hot Wheels speedometer that is kinda fun to mess with. But, it only really makes sense if all the cars are the same length (it calculates the speed by how long the beam is broken).
It might be a good place for your kit racers, Smitty...we could do a speed record challenge! As long as the cars were the same length, they could compete against each other.
Just an idea...might be fun!
- yeh, maybe 2 classes / lengths or all 1 car, '32 coupe, '34 coupe, '32 roadster ? — model40fan
- 32 Coupe, I think...and maybe another class for a later, full fender car? — 72_Chevy_C10
Alabama Drag Racing, We Race American Built Cars Only...All Cars must be Stock..We make it Easy for Everyone...I will share this Last Sunday Winner was a 1932 Ford and the Winner took home $48.00...
- welcome aboard boss ! — model40fan
- Welcome, welcome! Easy racing is good racing! Is that as in Chevy, Ford, etc., or as in not "made in China"? — FOTF
I don't think there's ever been an Asian manufacturer competition...
- Whoa! blast from the past...good to see you around!!!! — Traction-Event
- I've been thinking that a compact car race might be fun! — 72_Chevy_C10

- Thanks Traction... Good to see you as well — NerveHammerFTE
- I agree--where have you been all this time, NH? Nice to see you again! Good suggestions, too. — FOTF
- I've been playing in golf tournaments,playing Split/Second, etc. — NerveHammerFTE
- Cool! Simultaneously? (I can see a place for some sort of extreme driving range in Split/Second.) — FOTF
- uhh.. no. But that does seem pretty cool. You mean the straight at the Airport or the backstretch at Dry Docks? — NerveHammerFTE
- Perhaps for it to bowl down the runway. Also imagine em racing past a golf shop & blowing a giant flaming golf ball from the roof to track. — FOTF
How about luxury cars/grand tourers?
What does FOTF stand for is it an acronym?
- Fastest of the fast — Traction-Event
- Fastest of the fast....really? — Stroller
- Yep! Fastest of the Fastest. From years ago--before LJLRC & RLD--when OUR "FOTF" were HW Cougars, ha-ha-ha. — FOTF
- Stroller, just curious, how is this relevant to the original topic of the thread? — KandORacing
- For lots of good reasons I don't know yet.... — NerveHammerFTE
I'm not sure. My dad and I got away with sending a couple cars down their wheelchair/stroller ramp a few times (even videoing and timing the cars) when we were bored while my mom was looking at shoes, but it was nothing official. If this idea gets serious, I suppose I could either ask or just do it on the sly again.
The ramp made an interesting open-track race, with flooring with circles sticking up out of it, metal poles for railings sticking up, one side that was open for the cars to fall off, and another side that was a dusty corner for the cars to get caught up in. But our racers made it down a couple times! I'll have to see if I can get ahold of the videos.
