Vans and Winged Wonders...Official Thread...Final Week!
For what it's worth I liked the race best as originally posted. Led Zeppelin style...really light and really heavy 35/120.
I want to enter this race because vans. Didn't have anything winged in my arsenal but found a Winning Formula at Target this morning. Does it qualify?

- Cool. It isn't a winner-take-all is it? Not attached to the racecar, but I don't want to loose a van. — Finkle_and_Sons
- No, not a winner take all — 72_Chevy_C10
- Right on! — Finkle_and_Sons
I think I have discovered a possible Winged wonder...

It's "a bit later". See your previous post C10. Any idea on plans?
Hey Paul,
Yeah, I think the original rules will stand. 35 grams is a little light, but do-able for the winged cars. And 125 is pretty darned heavy, but again, do-able...I think we'll find out if there is a "too heavy" point.

This indestructible Super Van will be given a van-tastical paint job and some FTE wheels if I could find some on eBay...

Sadly, this Chaparral 2G is missing its wing and hood that holds it. Since some FTE's axles are too small, would cutting them and JB welding them to the chassis cause more problems than good?
If you use 1/16" copper or brass 'axle tubes', you can have any length axles you want. If you do a search on here for 'Smoky's Chevelle' you will find a build that I did to show the use of axle tubes :)

Found two cars that are perfect for the race. Both will be polished, repainted, fitted with fishing weights and FTEs in the next few weeks.
It will be hard repainting this one. Oxidation ate up the zamac over the years.
My van for the race has been completed. I couldn't fit any more weight inside so the rest is on the roof. It weights at 125 grams, being extremely heavy. It's been painted Inca gold and normal gold.
I've been such a terrible promoter for this race! I've just been letting it hang around...but, it'd coming up quick!
Here are the machines that are in the works for me...

I've pushed the start date back to Feb 13th. I'll have the last race of the Cops n Robbers Series and the first race for this one...maybe I can mash the two together for a Winter Nationals Race.
I just wanted to see who is building for this race? And, if anyone else would like to host? Please, let me know, and will get the ball rolling on this one!
Thanks Guys!
Hey Bill,
I was thinking about this race earlier today. Since the Vans seem to be pretty popular and the winged cars are a bit trickier, I'm kinda thinking about saving the winged cars for a later date and jyst running the Vans in February.
And, if I dropped the weight of the Vans down to 100 grams, they could be a part of the Mod race at LJLRC!. And, if anyone from LJLRC builds a van for the Mod race, it could be included in the Van series.
Of course, I might still build some Chevy for the Mod race! :)
I'll nail this down a little bit later....any input is welcome!
