Wow great project and I'm jealous of your work area. I'm building a testing proving track on a 4ft x 2ft piece of plywood. I got IR sensors from Adafruit - just search on IR break beam. Nice score on the 180 sections.

Here's the latest update. Home built timing system now fully functional and major renovations to the drag strip. I'm very happy with the new layout and will start finalizing everything. No more changes, only improvements. Let me know what your think...
