Dani's Derby to Fight Cancer

I have a former coworker and close friend of mine who is in the initial phase of her battle with stage 3 breast cancer, and I'm hosting a 'Pink Slip Race' charity event for her, as well as a 'Custom Car Contest'!

Rules & restrictions

• Rip & Race, Crack'em & Track'em race format
• Hot Wheels 'Pink Factory Paint' Stock entries only
• 50g maximum weight (62g carded as most blister packs weigh around 12g)
• 3.25in. long x 2in. tall x 1.25in. wide
• No Limit of entries per team/household @ $5.00 per entry
• Retail axles and wheels only. Faster Than Ever & Nickel Plated Axles allowed.
• No Lube/Factory Sealed, Carded Casting Only!

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Saturday, 6/27/2026. Racing is scheduled for Saturday, 6/27/2026. I will accomodate and race as many entries as I receive. Results will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host.

RACE PORTION ONLY - Include $5.00 'entry fee' donation per car and write your team or driver name on the back of each card that the castings come on. Entries will NOT be returned but will be given to the winner of the race as part of the prize. This is a true 'Pink Slip Race' in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.

CUSTOM CAR CONTEST - No entry fee as cars will not be returned. If you choose to send a custom car, you can just send it along with your race entries in the same package. Judging for the custom car contest will be held via a separate YouTube video from the race video with voting by comments being tallied up after a short period of time. Dani and I will have the final vote and we will convene shortly thereafter and choose from the top vote getters. 

YOU CAN ENTER EITHER EVENT WITHOUT ENTERING THE OTHER. It is NOT mandatory to enter a custom car if you just want to race. And if you only want to enter the custom car portion you may do so, just have your entry here before the deadline.

Race format and scoring

No 'race sheet' required, only if you feel the need to send details or other information... This is a rip & race, so I'm just writing driver names on the backs of the unopened cards as they come in and the first round of racing will be a random draw.

This will be a single-elimination tournament. A car with the best time each round will move on in the bracket. Cars will alternate lanes between each race.

The car that wins the final race will be declared the winner. Race host has final decision in all races.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.

Custom Car Contest!

This event will be in conjunction with the pinks race for entrants to build a car, paint it pink and you may use the pre-designed logo (above) somwhere on the build if you so choose. You may submit any brand of 1/64th scale Diecast Cars with cool custom paint jobs including encouraging words, fight cancer, breast cancer awareness ribbons & logos, etc. You may also incorporate some of her favorite things (like she loves cows and 1967 Camaros for instance). After voting is done and a winner is chosen, all of the custom cars will be given to Dani to keep and boost her spirits during her fight. There will be an Awesome trophy and prize pack for the winner of this portion! THIS PORTION OF THE EVENT IS NOT A RACE, JUST A CUSTOM CAR CONTEST.
