Factory Wars {A NEW MAIL-IN}

Jump to first page Jump to last page

** Just a reminder **, We would love to have a big prize pool for this event, so if everyone could add just something small to contribute that would be awesome!

There is a local hot wheels show/swapmeet on the 24th of this month...I'll be sure to dig up something.

Anybody tried the Escalade casting? I picked one up today. Metal base but plastic body. Any speed potential there?

I have a Chevy Tahoe, built similar...seems prety fast out of the box, lightweight too

I haven't sent one in to race but I have built a few.
They are fast, just never made the cut when it got time to send 'em in.

You can also build an all metal Escalade if you find an earlier casting (they had metal body and plastic base).

Avengers assemble!

Hopefully these guys can avenge more earlier poor showings.

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Ford - Mustang
Chevy - Escalade
Import - Datsun
Dodge - Demon
Other - Chevroletor

The Escalade and Camaro are close out of the box speed wise. I am going with the Escalade because of the extra room to add weight. It seems like trucks and suv's end up being faster. I'm trying to send different options for the best chance at winning. Will also be using FTE's, FTE2's, HSW, and stock wheels just to cove all my bases. I still have to do some paint work and tuning on the Demon and Escalade.

Any one else out there have a hard time when modding the cars after adding some weight and moving it around to the "right" spots the cars seem to become slower than when you started. It's very frustrating and i have yet to learn the "right" spots to distribute the weight.

That's about what I do. A little here, a little there. Never was able to figure out the best location for weights when I was building Pinewood Derby cars with my sons. Probably why they never won anything. Between the small scale and the front post there isn't lots of room in these little cars. Plus I'm one that never seems to get them built until the last minute, so not a lot of time to experiment. I just hope for the best.

I feel your pain. I just put FTE's on a Camaro and it was slower.

I'll scrounge or scavenge something to put in the kitty.
I don't see the difference of putting the weights anywhere in particular; my point is to make the car heavier. Wheels and axles are my trouble.
