Had ball practice tonight so I got to see my fiberglass buddy. He has been doing some planning because he was going to build an extra track for his kids.

He has decided to build it out of some other material. He said he has sheets 5' x 16' of a really thin aluminum on top, plastic in the middle and another thin sheet of aluminum on the bottom. He said the whole thing is maybe 3-4 mm thick. I took him 4 pieces of track and we decided to build a track out of this aluminum and it will hold 4 lanes with a shape like this.

n______________n

He said by adding the bends on the end, it will be plenty stiff. The only question is how long to make it. I originally thought 8' but I am thinking about going 10'. Storage is the only problem by going too big. He is going to start on it tomorrow so I need to figure out a length some time tonight. Decisions decisions.

IF YOU REMOVE THE SIDE RAILS THROUGH THE TRANSFER THE TRACK SURFACE COULD TRANSITION [CURL] FROM INCLINE TO RUNOUT WITH A SMOOTH SURFACE...
.
AS FAR AS LENTH ; 1/8 MILE IS ABOUT 8' SOMETHING.... 1/4 MILE IS ABOUT 17' SOMETHING...

I remember reading somewhere (maybe on this site) 1/4 mile is 20ft 6 in.... 1:64 scale.

I have been wrong often...

and the calculator says...TE is right on... 5280 ' divided by 64 = 82.5... 82.5 divided by 4 = 20.6',
so 1/4 mile is 20.6'...20' 8", 1/8 mile is 10.3'...10' 4"...
