I did some Track Time and put eight Stingray Corvettes
to the test. Four of them had the original FTE wheels
and the other four had the new FTE2 wheels. Check
out the video =)

Nice video! I don't plan to ever buy any FTE2 cars. Hope they continue releasing both wheels for each model as they've been doing so far.

Nicely documented, markkaz. Just curious, what caused the 'wrecks'...excessive oscillations(tracking issues)?...wheels locking up?

People on HWC are speculating that the actual texture
of the outside of the wheel may be causing it to wreck.
I will make another video looking much closer at the
rims. Maybe they stick out a bit and when they hit the
sidelines of the lanes, they bump into it and catapult
the car into the air.

I will be looking at the later this week.

Yea, now that you mention it I could see how that would be possible. Maybe the wheel faces could be filed or sanded down to prevent it? Of coarse, then you'd be stuck with a fast car that has ugly looking wheels...not that they're very appealing to begin with.

ditto on the wheels, they could not be uglier if flat...

Send 3 here for further testing. I'll get 'em in round 3 under your name. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRFIvsDMAMw

They'd probably do just fine on your track, George. The "problem" w/the FTE2 wheels that markkaz showed us only seems to occur on orange track after the cars come up to speed.

i was repairing a wide truck, testing it for clearance...on orange track it rolled fine and then stopped..after some checking, the track edges taper side to side... the angle changes, top to bottom... mostly in the transfer... can the FTE IIs wheels be CLIMBING up the changing taper on the track sides ? i don't know as i race 5 spokes...

I dunno, Smitty. I examined the FTE2s on my Javelin and easily captured close-up on video with a HW Video Racer, a long track, and a bit of patience.

i'm cool with the video and long track but patience.............. racer's disfunction...
