Few cars in motorsport history are as important as the 1967 Lotus Type 49. Designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe, this Formula One machine changed racing forever.

It was the first F1 car built specifically around the Cosworth DFV engine, a power unit so dominant that it went on to win 155 races over nearly two decades. And now, thanks to Hot Wheels, I'm excited to pay homage to this legend at Timber Creek Speedway.

Rules & restrictions

• Modified entries only
• 50g maximum weight
• 3.25in. long x 2in. tall x 1.25in. wide
• Limit 2 entries per household
• This model's wheels and axles ONLY - no swap-outs allowed. Taking the car apart is fine, just don't change the axles and tires
• You can repaint the body if you like 
• Any lubrication is fine
• There is limited space for weight, so please keep within the body (no visibility)

PLEASE NOTE:

The helmet should be painted a color that will help with identifying the race owner for the event, so please either paint yourself, or I can do it for you! Please reserve your color!

There will be a maximum of 16 cars per group.

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Saturday, 12/6/2025. Racing is scheduled for Saturday, 12/13/2025. Results will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host.

How to enter

Contact the tournament host to get the shipping address for entry.

Include at least $10.00 for return shipping if you want your entries back. Entries not getting returned will be kept at the track for future events.

Include a Race Entry ID slip with your entry

Racing will be on the Timber Creek Speedway. View track profile and specs

Race format and scoring

This will be a single-elimination tournament. A car will move on in the bracket only when it has the fastest combined time from both lanes. Cars will alternate lanes between each race.

The car that wins the final race will be declared the winner. Race host has final decision in all races.

Bracket seeding will be determined when received. If you enter 2 cars, then one car will be at the top of the bracket, the second at the bottom, if they are unable to be split between the 2 racing groups.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.

Prizes

Winner's T-shirt that will be Lotus event themed, or you can select a cap or coffee mug.
