preacher, do have any pix of the bracket / stand that supports the finish line ?... I'm in design mode...
Smitty, its not a close up but thought this MIGHT help. This is how the league track has theirs set up.
Can check later tonight to see if I have any closer shots.
I see you have a wooden base...
I only know steel...
found a small blue plastic "light switch" electrical box [checkerboard] at Lowes...trimmed it to protect the switch and phone plug at the starter...
the starter switch lever shows against the door's white background ;
.press the washers together and it pulls the pin, releasing the door, starting the timer. [don't reset the door too soon, it clears the clocks]
i cut a slot into the leading edge and trailing edge of a couple DRAG TRACKS section... I can loosen the wingnut, slide the lower section's slot up around the finish bracket's "bolt", then slide the upper track section into the lower one and the bolt, tighten the wingnut...
.assembled, holes are for the two sensors ;

Here is a quick picture that shows the timer. My track is mounted on a 3/4 plywood, so I cut my board where I wanted the timer, and made a notch for it. Placed another piece of wood beneath the track to support where I made the cut. And then took some 3inch metal corners and pounded them flat and screwed them to the timer. (Note: The timer should have these screws already there, Just screw them out, and attach the flatten metal supports.) This way with the timer sitting in the slot, it now has the metal supports to stabilize it even more. With the stop box right behind the timer it is super supported, and easy to install and remove.
Hope this helps,
Preacher

I went to the Gridiron sports pub for a track test and a steak... well... they were having a professional photographer taking pix and videos for their next tv commercial... food, seating, TV's, bar, outside façade... I was almost put away... I asked if he wanted me to reset the rig and run some cars ... he said yes sir...he filmed a dozen passes between a pair of 1st edition way 2 fast... don't know if we made the cut but if we do i'll pass on where to see it...

That is great Smitty! Did you get some face time?
it's here !... micro-wizard K3,... 2 lane 1/64th scale timer... the thing is much heavier than I though it would be...finish line is 10" wide total...
40' cable, starter switch, ac converter, envelope of screws/washers/nuts, and the unit...

the channel the sensors are mounted to and the wires run through, under the track is .55" tall... going to be a 5/8" reverse slope finish on the new track's runout... come from behind wins ?
