Middleweight Challenge II (Feb 9 Series Start)
A couple of cars had loose chassis when they were raced here on Monday, the 43 car seemed fine though as it blew everyone away! In my way of thinking the series are sort of like endurance events too. Cars have got to be built to go the distance!
I didn't look closely at all of the cars but I did notice that Traction Event used screws to hold his cars together, good job! ![]()
our current champ 43 have loose chassis. Out of the 3 car 43 is only loose in the front the back still seems to be holding. Since they still roll just fine...I plan on running the cars as they sit, unless told otherwise.
With 5 races left to go, I hope my lead is large enough in case my no. 43 has to limp over the finish line.
how bad is the damage on #10?

Confidence....I like that.
 how bad is the damage on #10?
The jb quick has broken, but gravity will hold it together. It still rolls fine.

I'm a bit surprised but maybe this is just the thing that will make my Mirada lightning fast! ....or not
Ok,I need to correct this statement. I unpacked the cars and lined them up on my table. First the jammer case is cracked on one corner.
Great, not only does USPS send our cars to the wrong address in Texas, but add some injury to insult by crunching our package.
I will race each car as it came in the mail, unless something falls apart...it's racing!
Gridding up for racing Saturday.....

The cars are packed very well with in the Jammer case that TLD provided. There is bubble wrap around each car in each slot. The corner of the Jammer case was cracked when it arrived here at HalfFastRaceway. I've got brand new ones that were cracked when they arrived, thats why Walmart stopped selling them in the toy department years ago.
JB weld and super glue do not stick to the plastic bases very well. I learned this early on and started using screws to hold my cars together. The "Smitty rivit" works a little better, but I prefer to be screwed.

I was seriously considering trying the screws. What type of screws work best?

I drill the rivits with a #44 drill bit and tap the holes with a 3-48 bottom tap, then use a 3-48 button head screws.
Of all the cars that I've drilled only a handful were wasted by drilling the post at a bad angle. I've always used the same tap until last weekend, broke it and another this week (while building 25 Imports for an upcoming HWC-KIR race)! I buy all of the stuff at the local Fastenal.

Car 70's front holds itself in, if you feel it needs glued, maybe a little plastic cement to it, if it seems to run ok as is and rolls fine then run it as is.
Thanks for looking them over.
