After hosting 3 live events at conventions over the past year, I'm pleased to announce my first mail-in race! For our inaugural mail-in event, Mach64 Speedway will play host to one of the greatest rivalries in motorsport history. On one side, we have Nissan’s iconic Z-car line—the heavy-hitting, smooth-shifting masters of piston power. On the other side, the mad scientists from Mazda wielding their secret weapon: the high-revving, fire-spitting, dorito-powered rotary engine!

Rules & restrictions

  • Stock and modified entries allowed
  • 60g maximum weight
  • 3.25in. long x 2in. tall x 1.25in. wide
  • Limit: Only 2 entries per household: 1 Mazda rotary model, 1 Nissan Z series model.
  • Retail axles and wheels only. FTE/NPA axles allowed. Tubing is NOT allowed. Wheels can be sanded, coned or skinny. Back To The Future time machine rail wheels are allowed.
  • Any lubrication is allowed as long as it doesn't drip on the track. If it does it will be an automatic DQ.
  • Custom body and chassis paint is allowed. However, no protusions coming out of the vehicle or peeking over the start gate. If you are building a Mazda Repu you can use the truck bed to add weight and you can cover the bed as well.
  • Eligible vehicles •Mazda: Rotary models only (Cosmo Sport, RX series, 787B, Repu or Furai) Nissan: Z series only (Datsun 240Z, 280ZX, 300ZX, 350Z, 370Z or Fairlady Z)
  • Any brand is allowed as long as it's a Mazda rotary model or Nissan Z series (HotWheels, Matchbox, JL, Auto World, etc.)

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Saturday, 8/8/2026. Racing is scheduled for Saturday, 8/15/2026. Results will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host. Race format and scoring

This will be a double elimination tournament with a slight twist. The 1st Round will be a one-and-done race. Winners move on and the losers fall into the 2nd Chance bracket. From there, the Winner's bracket will continue to be a one-and-done race while the 2nd Chance bracket runs 2 races, swapping lanes each time with the fastest time of those 2 runs moving on. If you lose out in this 2nd Chance bracket you are officially eliminated from competition. For the Finals, we will run a best 4-out-of-7 series, switching lanes every time until we get a winner.

Seeding
There will be NO qualifying rounds for this tournament. Matchups will be random for the 1st Round and for the 1st Round of the 2nd Chance bracket ONLY. Since each racer will have 2 cars I will assign each car to the top 20 and the bottom 20 side of the 1st Round bracket so they don't run each other at the start. After that, you race whoever is in front of you as you move on. This goes for both brackets.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 0.99g (60.99g) over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.

Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd! No one will go home empty handed!
