Roster Moves and Free Agent Signings after 11/28/11 of the Active Trial Season

On behalf of the Plymouth Valiants, League Commissioner seattlegreyy has announced a roster move.

The Valiants, having hit on rather hard times after the previous extraordinarily successful regular season, have received no production from their veteran player markkaz for the past three weeks.

With no other roster moves to announce (despite some players on other teams that have not produced in a similar amount of time), the Valiants have the luxury of dropping markkaz and picking up the best available free agent. That just so happens to be Shane The Pain.

Meanwhile, League Commissioner seattlegreyy is STILL mulling over rules regarding the re-signing of previously released players--but no official announcement on the exact wording of those rules or when they will be enacted has been announced.

So, to recap, last night's roster move:
Plymouth Valiants
releasing: marrkaz
signing: Shane The Pain

...and this roster change will be in place starting with Tournament Thirteen.

Good luck, everybody!

Glad to see my less than stellar picks have not hurt the overall team standings

Ah geez... Well you know, if you're gonna blow a lead, you need to the BLOW the lead...at least we lose like we mean it.

I hope the team points are added soon so I know who on my team to smack.

That would be me Brian, sorry, had a brain fart that week and didn't realize until the weekend hit that I didn't submit my brackets. Basketball season has started for me so my bracket picks are pretty much going by my gut. I'm happy to be in the top 20

Maybe I should set an alarm for me every Friday before 9pm

ACTIVE TRIAL SEASON PLAYOFF PREVIEW!!!

MATCH ONE: MERCURY COUGARS at PONTIAC FIREBIRDS
--For the second year in a row, the worst team in the La Salle Division turns out to be the Mercury Cougars. They bring their 5-9 record to Pontiac with them to take on the best team in the division, the Firebirds. Surprisingly, the Cougars started the year with an impressive victory over the Firebirds in Pontiac. However, the Firebirds got their revenge in Mercury with a thorough drubbing of the Cougars in front of their home fans. This becomes the rubber match in their season series--and the chance to move on in the playoffs towards the GreyyCup is on the line.

The Firebirds count on big scores from Team Captain WorpeX and free agent signing GsR microracing--but, don't discount either 4UBRAT or Sean_aruba--it turns out that when either of those players has a good game, the Firebirds normally bring home the victory. For the Cougars to go into Pontiac and take the Firebirds down a second time in their own house, they'll have to hope that all four of their players score well (something they haven't been able to count on this year) and that they an hold WorpeX and GsR microracing in check.

MATCH TWO: HUDSON HORNETS at NASH RAMBLERS
--What has happened to the Nash Ramblers in this Active Trial Season is shocking. After a strong start of the year, where they launched themselves to a 5-0 record after five tournaments, they've only managed to win one match since. Can they pull it together to get the chance to properly defend their League Championship? Or, will the Hudson Hornets end their misery in the first round of the playoffs? The Hornets should be a much improved team over last year--but some inexplicably poor games from their veteran players have left them with the same record as the Ramblers for the regular season.

The season series between these two teams was split--with the home team winning by 20 or more in each match. The Ramblers have the home field advantage--and championship pride on the line, making them slight favorites in this one.

MATCH THREE: STUTZ BEARCATS at AMC JAVELINS
--With a 5&9 record, and having scored more points than they gave up over the course of the year, the Stutz Bearcats fans must be happy with their team's improvement over this Active Trial Season compared to last year. Yes, they have to face the winningest team in the in the first round of the playoffs, in the AMC Javelins, but they did that last year too...and the Bearcats knocked out the then seemingly-invincible Plymouth Valiants... Can they shake up the world again? The Javelins, meanwhile, have been quite the juggernaut this year--although, a last second one point loss to the Firebirds on the last tournament of the regular season might have shaken their confidence a little bit.

The Javelins won both regular season match ups between these two teams--but neither was a blow-out...the Bearcats played the Javelins close both times. The Bearcats know that they can go into enemy territory and steal a playoff victory from heavily favored opponents because they've done it before. Can they do it again? The odds say "No"--but this is why they play the game!

MATCH FOUR: PLYMOUTH VALIANTS at STUDEBAKER LARKS
--If you talk to the fans in Plymouth, they'll talk about their disappointment in how they couldn't match their regular season success from last year. If you talk to the fans in Studebaker, they'll also talk about their disappointment that they didn't build on their playoffs-run momentum from last year and had a fairly middling season this year. So, expect some gloomy skies and gloomier fans on both ends of Studebaker Field. Still, as the Studebaker fans know, everything changes in the playoffs...and if they could knock off the hottest team in the on the road in the first round of the playoffs last year (they being the AMC Javelins), they can certainly do the same at home to the Plymouth Valiants, this year.

The Valiants should be bolstered by the knowledge that these two teams split the regular season match-ups--with the Larks winning by only one point in Plymouth in Tournament Two but the Valiants went to Studebaker and won by seven in Tournament Nine. Should be a closely fought battle and one team's fans will be much happier than the other team's fans when it's all over.

Roster Moves and Free Agent Signings after 12/3/11 of the Active Trial Season

Headed into the playoffs, the Team Captain of the Nash Ramblers, Redline Derby, has announced a roster move.

"We need to be able to count on everybody in the playoffs," said the Team Captain of the GreyyCup defending Ramblers. "So, we're making a move."

The Ramblers are dropping zoom, who failed to score this past week, in favor of signing Fireball as a free agent.

And as of midnight last night, that move was confirmed by the league commissioner.

Meanwhile, League Commissioner seattlegreyy is STILL mulling over rules regarding the re-signing of previously released players--but no official announcement on the exact wording of those rules or when they will be enacted has been announced.

A reminder to all Team Captains that once the playoffs begin, no other roster moves can be made. If there are any last minute roster tweaks--better make them before Friday at midnight.

So, to recap, last night's roster move:
Nash Ramblers
releasing: zoom
signing: Fireball

...and this roster change will be in place starting with Tournament Fifteen.

Good luck, everybody!

Roster Moves and Free Agent Signings after 12/4/11 of the Active Trial Season

Headed into the playoffs, the Team Captain of the Hudson Hornets, Variation Jason, has announced two roster moves, designed to wake-up the Hornets rather moribund offense.

The Hornets, the third place team in the La Salle Division, who take on the defending league champion Nash Ramblers in the first round of the playoffs, are the lowest scoring team in the entire . And the decision to replace multiple members of his team was familiar to Variation Jason--as similar changes were made LAST YEAR, when the Hornets made it through to the second round of the playoffs.

Will this defibrulation work a second straight year? We'll have to see--and it depends on the strength of the free agent signings made today.

The Hornets are dropping Radekal and Jeremy. Neither player managed to score any points this past week or the week before. That's a lot of tournaments for a team to be at half-strength.

In their place, the Hornets have selected Baranca and Black wall. Baranca was a free agent signing last year for the AMC Javelins--and was a vital part of their impressive run towards the playoffs (that was upended, surprisingly, by the Larks in the first round of the playoffs.) Baranca was unceremoniously jettisoned by Javelins' Team Captain JDC 442 Racing in favor of EconoCarl--but Baranca has remained one of the most consistent free agents this year.

The selection of Black wall is interesting...as Black wall only has one week of action in the . Variation Jason decided to go with Black wall over dimitambe, a consistent free agent that was a member of the Hornets late last year and early this year, and other new free agents.

Hornets fans hopes this late gamble pays off--as these moves have now been confirmed by the league commissioner.
