...and that brings us to GreyyCup V.
This year's LaSalle Division was all about the Firebirds and the Cougars. A late season run gave some momentum to the third-place Nash Ramblers. They weren't intimidated by the amazing score that the Firebirds put up in the opening round of the playoffs, they simply took care of the Cougars on their own...and then faced off against the Firebirds and they put up the points they needed to to make the GreyyCup for the first time since the inaugural Blind Trial Season.
Over in the Tucker Division, it looked like the AMC Javelins could possibly run the table...they were undefeated after nine tournaments and they seemed both dominant and lucky. That luck ran out when ConceptTA suddenly stopped scoring points...and they limped into the playoffs at 9-4-1. Had the Tucker Division playoffs been like the offensive shootouts of the LaSalle Division, the Javelins would have been ushered out in the first round. Instead, the Javelins managed to grind out two hard fought victories while still only being able to rely on three scorers.
Because of the more balanced attack, the Nash Ramblers have to be seen as the favorites going into GreyyCup V. They know that they've got the momentum and that they're hitting on all cylinders at the perfect time of the year...and they come into this match with a great deal of confidence, going against a still-formidable but weakened opponent.
For the Javelins to become not only the first team to win consecutive GreyyCups they will either need tough defense to hold the Ramblers down while hoping for continued Herculean efforts from the Javelins three consistent scorers...or, they need to find wherever ConceptTA is hiding and make certain that they can match four against four in this Ultimate Trial Season Championship Tournament!
GREYY CUP V
Three wheeled Javelin versus a restored Nash Rambler.
Who you got?
I can't believe the Ramblers made it! I had my doubts, but we be going all the way this time. I'm not about to watch a Javelin dynasty form right in front of me.

JAVELINS TEAM SCORE: 32
This would be a historic GreyyCup, because for the first time, both teams are previous GreyyCup winners. The Javelins, who had been so dominant in the early part of the season, limped into and through the playoffs without any production coming from ConceptTA. In essence, they were a three player team down the stretch. Meanwhile, the Ramblers, who many had counted out after a more sluggish than normal start, made some good player moves and put together a strong run that carried them through the playoffs and past the Pontiac Firebirds, who many had expected to represent the La Salle Division in this season's GreyyCup.
In a match up of captains, the Javelins took an early lead...but that lead vanished when iowastockcars put up 24 points in the second quarter. Going into halftime, the Ramblers lead 35 to 23.
The second half started promisingly for the defending champion Javelins as a stingy defense kept toycarjunkies to only 3 points and the Javelins were able to cut the lead down to only 6 points with one quarter to go. That wouldn't have been insurmountable lead early in the season when the Javelins were hitting on all four cylinders. Could ConceptTA both hold longklaw in check while putting up a solid number?
No. Once again, ConceptTA puts up a goose egg and the Ramblers extended their lead to turn the GreyyCup into a bit of a laugher.
They were the first ever GreyyCup Champions...they are the Ultimate Trial Season Champions...and they are the new
Good game Ramblers. Voltron!
F yeah, Voltron FTW! Thanks to my team that showed up when it mattered. And thanks again to our commissioner for all his hard work and weekly posts.
