I'm liking the "road race" course.
Bring on the video!
Thanks Carl....I've already shot BIG & lightweight and often looses its photo subjects in the tight curves. It usually takes many attempts to come up with just a few seconds of useable footage. I hope to have some time to gather more on Sunday.

This is what I test & race on @ home most of the time...

Its balanced, it won't "fly".

Is that the track we've seen in some of your videos?
Is that the track we've seen in some of your videos?
Yes....I've experimented with the length, curve angles, & the 'return ramp' over the months, so my vids have slightly different versions of the track in each one.
Here's what I've got so far, but might still experiment w/ it...
starting box made from foam core board w/ hot glue and packing tape:

4 foot-long adjustable height ramp to an 11-foot straightaway. I'm using
my popsicle-stick finish gate for now until I get a more robust gate working.

I like the idea of a fat track portion, but how do you judge close-finishes?
You're off to a terrific start, vidmouse. I began testing cars on much less than that.

With a very dramatically.

I just modified my "Bunk Board" track, by removing the 1/2 x 3/4 inch wood strips, and replacing them with aluminum. With the aluminum the track is straighter and faster. I'm still working some bugs out, but right now it stands at 32 feet when using the Super Six Lane track for my launch station. We host a Hot Wheels race once a month after our Sunday Service at Church. The Super Six lane really makes the cars scream down the track, also the finish line works well too!

So is the aluminum attached to wood? Or is it like a alum stud or something? I've been looking at other materials other than wood too but haven't seen anything at Home Depot that fits the bill. MDF and a lot of the synthetic stuff is way too heavy, but aluminum sounds great.
Nice tracks guys, love the 'road' course. I always wanted to do something like that
The track where my testing goes on at...

It's attached to the wooden boards by screws...and yes it is much straighter than it was before, and the plumb line really helps with keeping it straight. The MDF I've thought about using it, but it is so vulnerable to moisture,...so for now I'm just sticking to my old boards.
