Sloppy's Jalopies
I'm diggin this "in the weeds" stance...nice and low.
isn't nice AND low an oxymoron ...
K.I.R. legal... '55 bel-air gasser top chop ;
note the J.B. QUIK "slots filed in the w/s posts and b & c pillars... w/s looks to fit the chop ok, the rear window had to lay down, had to shorten the glass section thus removing the quarter glass... oil the w/s glass and use it as a buck to hold the roof right where you want it while JBin' .,..
tore out the smallblock and stuffed in an injected 289 hi-po 4 gear.
i drill [4] 11/64" holes in the rear floor, and then snip between the holes to remove the rear floorpan, i then file the edges flush with the vertical surfaces... this lets me fit the engine / interior to the body, fine tune the glass and detail the body before assembly...
now i can glue the interior and glass to body...put it away...and when weight and wheel restrictions are set i can add the weights from below the floor.
because the interior and base can only go back together one way, i can change axles and add about 30 grams of weight without having to separate the interior, glass or body ;
when body swapping or chopping i file away the top of the dash [tach & 2 humps] flush with the door's interior.
