I recently unearthed most of my collection of toy cars from the late 1960's to mid '70s.

Here are the carry case contents. The individual Hot Wheels Redline cas are going to be posted in another thread - in the collecting community blog.

Another move and tens years of bouncing around!

This car has actually been out on display for about 10 years and represents my 1st wireless remote controlled car. I remember it to be a Porsche 917 but it has been nearly 40 years. The steering only swung from left to right or right to left on a continuous basis. So it wasn't prototypical, but in the hands and mind of a 10 year old - I was racing at Le Mans!

'40 woodie was my first hot wheels modd, didn't drill the rivet...2007... B class 46.9 grams...
front bumper removed, broken driver's headlight, fuel injection added, damaged driver's front fender, cowl and windshield surround painted purple, wheels blackened, white wall tire added, rear door "changed"; Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

That is one of the coolest cars you've made Smitty. In RL this would be a car some guy has been working on his entire adult life, but he either doesn't know what he is doing or wanting or he is short of money. I think sometimes they just don't want the project to end. Nice doing a real slice life, Smitty.

Reminds me of my Dads old work car. If you lifted up the floor mat and then the cardboard layer - you could see the road going by!!! Didnt know at the time that it was for weight reduction!

I havent run across the weight class designations. Can someone point me to them or post them up here? Thanks in advance!

This next car is one of my favorites and is a big part of my love for sports car style racing. Back then we could only get some highlights on ABC Wide World of Sports or a few articles from Sports Illustrated. This car is a Porsche Audi model made by Corgi. It made many a lap on our hardwood floors and my work desk!

These next three are also Corgi models. From left to right are a Mercedes-Benz CIII, Porsche 917 and a Ford Mustang Mach I

This futuristic race car was super fast. It used the rip cord to turn a fly wheel inside the cockpit area. If you notice there are two holes in the roof - so if you were left handed you used one side and right handed the other! It is from Kenner and is called the "Tigera"

These three are from Japan. The dump bed is spring activated and the tow hooks raise and lower.

I remember this one being from a Cereal Box prize. Anyone know more about them. It also has a central fly wheel. I know that rip cord is in another cup of stuff in a box in that storage closet somewhere!!!!

My Mother is from Mexico and these two were made there. I dont remember if they were bought for me on a trip there, given as a gift there or on a return trip from there. The loose tire fell off during the photo shoot! The brand name is McGregor - that is what I named my 1st Westie - Sir McGregor McMears - we called him Mac though.

The only Matchbox so far. It is left hand drive and still has the original spare under the bonnet!
