VW Beetle Mania

Back in February, 16 builders were invited to compete at The Great Sand Dunes. The car of choice was a Hotwheels VW Beetle designed for Mattel by Larry Wood, and it debuted in 1984.

The final race was held on Monday, 5/19/2025.

Race format and scoring

This tournament began in March and the format was multiple group races to accumulate points, no eliminations. The top 6 moved on to the semi-final race. However, a Squash race was needed because 3 drivers were tied for the 6th spot. After the 6th spot was determined, positions 3, 4, 5 and 6 competed in an 8-round race to determine the positions 3 and 4 for the final race.
