WAR of the WHEELS: FTEs vs. non-FTEs Showdown

Jump to first page Jump to last page

Would you say that many of the races were won in the flat run-off area?

I find that to be one of the most exciting parts of Hot Wheels racing. Maybe because it doesn't happen very often. Not on my track anyway.

in the flat run-off area?

My specs: Drop height of 3.5 feet running six feet to the transition, then a flat run of approximately 19 feet.

What's interesting is that most of the FTE cars got the jump right out of the gate and never let go from there. I'd figured the all metal cars would likely lead in the drop, then perhaps get passed in the flat, but that just wasn't the case.

Alright, that actually explains a lot. Remember the "Downhiller's Delight" on HWC where the FTEs right car for the coarse.

I wish they would have ran the races head to head with just the cars.
In those races "Gates operated individually by contestants so that was a major factor".

Yea, you're right. I think he did run some even heats afterwards with different results.

Finished my War of the Wheels today... and the results aren't too pretty! haha. I only own 16 FTE cars in total. I decided to use them all even though some are mods and some are stock. With that said, the 16 cars that were chosen for the Non-FTE's were painstakingly chosen as the fastest car that I own with that wheel type. With that said... on to the results!

16th Rank Cars: Solaire (Hot Ones) loses to "Magneto"; Italia FTE (Donated by Jobe)

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

15th Rank Cars: "The Hot One"; 1957 Chevy (Black Walls) loses to Bye Focal FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

14th Rank Cars: Ballistic (5 Y Wheels) loses to "Gold Rush"; Zender Fact 4 FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

13th Rank Cars: Studebaker Champ (Good year 5SP) loses to Camaro Convertible FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

12th Rank Cars: "Translucent"; Power Rocket (3 Spoke) loses to 16 Angels FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

11th Rank Cars: Nisan Skyline (J5 Wheel) loses to "Blue Streak"; Speed Blaster FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

10th Rank Cars: Toyota Truck (High Speed Wheel) loses to Lamborghini Countache FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

9th Rank Cars: Twin Mill III (Silver OH5) loses to Delorean FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

8th Rank Cars: "Palisades"; Silver Bullet (Saw Blade Wheels) loses to Straight Pipes FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

7th Rank Cars: Ford GT LM (PR5) loses to Stingray Concept FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

6th Rank Cars: Fire Eater (Black OH5) loses to FTE2 Impala

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

5th Rank Cars: Ferrari F40 (Lace Wheels) loses to "Fang"; Ford Mustang FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

4th Rank Cars: "Shade"; Turbolence (5 Hole) loses to Italia FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

3rd Rank Cars: Cadillac V-16 (Bling Wheels) loses to "Vintage"; Javelin FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

2nd Rank Cars: Nerve Hammer (10 Spoke) loses to Ferrari California FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

1st Rank Cars: Way 2 Fast (5 Spoke) defeats Triumph FTE

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

End Result: Same as JDC442's event, the FTE's come out on top with 15 wins and 1 loss! In the very last race the Way 2 Fast denies a shut out in a nail biter of a race which went back and forth over 5 times before a winner was finally decided! A few other close races were F40 vs Fang, Shade vs Italia, V-16 vs Vintage and the Studebaker Champ's race.

I actually don't think the FTE's were ranked as well as they could have been which is probably the only reason they suffered 1 loss at all. The top 4 are certainly correct, but in my eyes, I feel that "Vintage" is the fastest FTE followed very closely by Italia and then Triumph/California. Way 2 Fast has lost in the past to Italia and so has Triumph, while Italia can never seem to top Vintage. Still, on the day I did the rankings, the results ended up like that so I can't argue with it! They're so close in speed that even the slightest slip on the track can affect placings!

Way to go WorpeX!
I was afraid your results might have all your non FTE cars winning thus confusing everything
It's good that we only raced 5 FTE cars in common which allowed for a larger variety of FTE cars represented. We also only shared two non FTE cars which meant the FTE cars shut down a greater variety of different wheel type cars. Well from both our results we have to admit that the FTE cars represented do deserve a certain amount of respect

Well done! Must be something to those FTE's.

I'd like to see the results of someone who has a longer track. My theory is that FTE's have faster acceleration then the Non-FTE counterparts but not necessarily the highest top speed. Since both JDC and I both have shorter tracks, I think that acceleration is what wins most of these races.

Okay, I sent Jobe a PM requesting that he hold a similar competition on his 50 foot track. If he's willing, it will be very interesting to see what happens on that monster track.
